Questions- Please Help :)

Moms of boys- When did you start trying (and when did you succeed) with potty training your little dude?

When did you move your tot into a toddler bed?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get G to stop hitting and biting people, esp. me and dh? We have been unsuccessful and it has been going on for almost 6 months now.

Thanks ladies!

Moms of boys- When did you start trying (and when did you succeed) with potty training your little dude?

We are following Evan's cues.  He goes about 70% of the time on the potty.  He wakes up wet from naps and bedtime still and won't tell us if he has to go when we are out of the house.  That tells me he's not ready and I'm not pushing it.  Honestly, since we CD having two in diapers won't bother me.

When did you move your tot into a toddler bed?

He'll be moving in the next 3-4 months.  We plan to get him a bed soon and get his room rearranged.

Evan came home last month from the IL's biting.  I flicked him on the mouth and it only took 3 times before he quit.  It wasn't hard enough to make him cry but it got his attention so we could talk about not biting.

    Thanks ladies!

Obviously haven't started yet, but K was 2 months before she turned 3 that it actually clicked.  I won't start with B until he's showing sure signs because I had been working with K for about 6 months prior.  It's frustrating when they are not ready.

When did you move your tot into a toddler bed?

Just before 2 with K (only because B was on his way).  I don't plan to move B quite as early, probably 2.5 ish.

I've been fortunate to not have biters/hitters, so I have no advice.  Some will probably reccomend biting back.  Lol!

    Thanks ladies!

  • When did you start trying (and when did you succeed) with potty training your little dude?  We started just over 2.5.  He was ready, they worked on it at daycare too, and it took us a week.  If they're not ready, it's a lot harder.

When did you move your tot into a toddler bed?  We moved him at about "2.25"...it was a few months after his birthday.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get G to stop hitting and biting people, esp. me and dh?  That's a hard one.  I had a biter -- at about the same age.  We started "time away" (what daycare calls it) around 2, so before that we immediately stopped what we were doing, put him down (or stopped playing, etc.) and walked away.  We told him "No bite!" in a stern voice.  While it wasn't fully effective everytime, the lack of interaction drove him nuts.  But, in all honesty, for B, it was when he could start talking and using words to express himself more frequently that the other stuff stopped.  It's a tough one!!
