Evan was always a good eater. He loves food but lately it's a struggle to get him to eat even his favorites. In the past few weeks it's gotten so bad that we've put him back in the high chair and he eats by himself. He pours yogurt on the floor, throws food all over the room, flips over his plate and then smushes everything. It's not out of anger or anything...he's just being a 2 year old I guess. I seriously want to lose my *** at every meal. I dread meal times now.
We've started getting him down from the table immediately which he doesn't care about. He'll happily go play. He will ask for snacks and we don't give in (he gets a small morning snack and a snack after nap...that's it). He's gone to bed hungry the past 4 nights. I don't know if it's related but now he's also gotten up 1-1.5 hours earlier than normal the past 4 days. He's not crying....just talking, singing, playing in his crib.
I'm guessing this is just normal two year old crap????
Re: Give me your tips for meal times
It just gets so draining after being with him 3 days straight. That's NINE meals I had to fight.
The kicker....he's a saint at daycare. Little turd.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
My kid isn't 2 yet, but he's already pulling this shhiiit. He's starting to use his fork for the purpose of stabbing the food lately, and if he can't get it on the fork he throws his plate and fork across the table and gets super pissed. He's very dramatic. It enrages me when I tell DCP that he won't eat stuff at home and how he acts at dinner and she says "Ohh he eats just fine here!" WTF.
Do you guys have a little picnic table or small table and chairs? I remember hearing somewhere that sometimes letting them sit at their own size table and not in a high chair, can entice them to do eat better and behave better during meals? My kid has been wanting to get out of his high chair and sit on my lap, or sit on the chair by himself to eat, and when he does he eats great! I've been thinking about trying to switch him to a booster seat to see if it helps for a while. GL!
