Can anyone tell me about Olney?
For MC, Olney seems to offer the most for our money in terms of ablity to get a SFH, the schools seem good and with theI ICC I think commuting from Olney to other parts of the county and up to 95 will be much easier. Are there any areas that are better than others? Neighborhoods to stay away from? Thanks!

Re: Can anyone tell me about Olney?
Olney's great. I grew up near by and my parents (and in laws) still live close to there. We've actually considered it for our next house. It's very family oriented and the only areas I wouldn't buy in are mostly apartments, so you wouldn't have to worry about that anyway. Some neighborhoods are obviously nicer than others, like anywhere else. They've built up the shopping centers a bit in recent years so that there are more dining and grocery shopping options than there used to be (still not a ton, but a handful of good places. One of my favorite MoCo restaurants is Ricciuti's).
It's not a great commute in to DC. And actually, there are a lot of two lane roads, so rush hour can be surprisingly slow.
Thanks!
I have Ricciuti's on our must try list. DH commutes into DC so he would take the ICC from Olney to SG metro but I do actually worry more about getting around the county. We rent a TH right now right around fallsgrove and I LOVE the area but it's hard to get more than a small TH there for our price range.

I've mostly been there for Dr.'s appts, Ricutti's, and the strip malls... but, I generally like Olney!
Are you guys for sure staying in the area? Did I read a post about you thinking of moving somewhere else? (I may be confusing you with another Nestie on that point...) Oh, and did you ever find the fruit for your husband???
No you remember correctly, chia!
We are staying for at least 5 years and we are really not sure if renting for almost the same monthly payment as buying is worth it. We are only going to offer on something we are really into though and not buy just for the sake of buying.
I also haven't found the fruit but I honestly have not looked into it since our anniversary.

A few of my coworkers have houses in Olney and seem really happy there. It's not for us since we like to be closer to everything and we need the metro.
One of my husband's coworkers lives in Derwood and has a fantastic single family house. It has a ton of property so they have privacy and they have a pool
Derwood is next to Olney so it could expand your search a bit
