moving LO from the crib (additional questions from earlier post)
Do you use a toddler bed or mattress on floor?! What are the pros/cons?
I think our crib converts to a toddler bed but I have no idea how to do it!
Otherwise maybe we'll find a queen mattress and just put it on the floor until he gets a big boy bed (when would that be?!).
anyone have a mattress for sell?!
Re: moving LO from the crib (additional questions from earlier post)
Our crib converted to a toddler bed and it was really easy. We just unscrewed the front and screwed on the toddler adapter side (you usually have to buy this separately from your crib itself). We thought it would be an easier transition for C since it looked almost exactly like his old crib only now he could get in and out safely.
In retrospect, I think a mattress on the floor might have been better. The toddler bed has a weight limit on it that would prevent DH from sitting on the bed while C is in it so it makes reading to him at night a pain because you have to sit on the floor or a stool next to the bed.
To keep him in bed, we have him lay down, read 2 books, sing one song, say prayers then say good night. Some nights we still have to sit in there until he falls asleep or he will get out of bed. We also close the door at night with a child safety knob on the inside door knob so he can't get out and wander the halls by himself at night. If he really needs something, he cries and we can hear him, most of the time he just turns around and goes back to bed on his own if he can't get out.
