Big Brother Fans?
We started getting Showtime a couple of weeks ago, and I noticed the Big Brother After Dark, where they show live feed every night. I've never watched BB, but now I want to give it a try. I watched the last episode, but missed the first one (or two?), so I'm slowly learning the house members. Anyone want to catch me up on newbie and veteran history? I don't know anything about the old pairs. Two are engaged and one is father/daughter? Do they always have pairs on this show or did these people start dating on/after the show?

This is the first time they have had pairs. On the first episode, they brought the new houseguests in (eight) and then told them they needed to pick pairs. After that they started introducing veteran pairs.
Brendan and Rachel were on last season. They got together during the season and are now engaged. They are so annoying and dramatic. But they really did dominate last season.
Jeff and Jordan are from Season 11 (I think). They also hooked up during that season and have been dating ever since. I actually love them as a couple and during that summer they were very sweet to each other. Getting to know each other and stuff. Whereas Brendan and Rachel just f*cked most of the time and talked dirty and it was WAY gross.
*** and Danielle are father/daughter. They were Season 8. They didnt know they were father/daughter until they met in the Big Brother House. Each season there is a "twist" that was the twist for that season.
Typically there is a Head of Household competition and whoever wins that they have to nominate two people to put up for eviction. Then there is a power of veto competition in which the two nominated house guests and the HoH compete in. They also get to pick out of a hat one person each to compete. Whoever wins PoV has the option to take off one of the eviction nominees and then the HoH has to decide who to replace them with. You dont have to use the PoV. Evictions are live on Thursdays.
This year, instead of nominating two people the HoH nominates one team. Whoever isnt evicted from the team gets a golden key. That person is then not allowed to compete in competitions until week 5 and they are safe in the house until week 5. After that I assume the rules will change but we're only mid-week One.
There are also luxury competitions for things like movie nights, alcohol, a grill, etc. And there are food competitions as well. Those who win get to eat whatever is in the house. Those who lose have to eat slop only for all meals. Its kind of like grits they have said in the past. Last year they also had three other things they could eat (like one week it was Broccoli, Bok choy, and baby food). I havent seen the food comp yet to tell you what its like this season.
The shows are on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. But obvs you can watch After Dark every night and you can also purchase live feeds.
We have HBO, not Showtime, so I only watch the shows on CBS. The only one thats live is Thursday. But then I also read spoilers on www.bigbrothernetwork.com so if you wanted to read that for recaps/to catch up its pretty inclusive.
