TR: Wide & Fat Feet/Sandals

Drake has really wide feet - so I was thinking about getting him a pair of crocs.  Does anyone have any experience with sizing as I'm thinking I'll order online?  Or, does anyone have anyother suggestions?

We bought him a pair of Keens and his feet are so wide (and fat) that they just rubbed against the top of his feet too bad and gave him icky blisters.  *On that note - if anyone wants a pair of size 5 Keens, let me know :)  He has a pair of Adidas Sandals that velcro top and behind and they're awesome - but he's a stumbler/faller and stubs his toes all. the. time....so we're looking for something closed-toe but still sandal(ish).

Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Re: TR: Wide & Fat Feet/Sandals

  • I don't have any advice on Crocs but I can say we have been there.  DS has extra wide feet and they are chubby.  Last year I got him a great pair of closed toe sandals from Stride Rite in Valley West Mall.  They were like $35 but we were able to get extra wide and they covered his toes which I really liked.  I thought maybe as DS got older he would grow out of the fat feet stage but we still are having a hard time finding shoes for him.  Now that he can talk he will tell us no they are too tight!  I hope you are able to find something that will work.

  • Have you seen those Nike children's sandals? They have a closed toe, similar to Keens, but they top is a meshy materal, they look pretty comfy. And since the top is meshy, maybe they'd be wide enough and not rub his poor little feets!
  • Kellen is in the same boat!  We got him Crocs from Target (size 6) that are working well, and I found a gem in the rough at BRU.  I think they are Koala Kids, and they are super wide sandals.  They had a section for them, and had different colors.  They are the widest we have found (and, we have gone through Airwalks, Keens, Converse, Nike, etc).  They are the ones with 2 straps across.  Not sure what we will do when it comes time for socks and shoes, as his foot won't fit in to any!  Gets it from my dad, who wears a 14 EEE.  (very wide!)

This!  We did the same thing for C's wide feet.  He got some really cute close toed sandals at stride rite that fit perfectly.  I would definitely recommend checking them out because the shoes wear really well.
