I know some ppl hate these - Ask Me Anything

B is napping for the time being and I am working on church stuff and eating a late lunch, so why not.  Ask me anything.

Sorry if it starts up a sh!tstorm of followups.

Re: I know some ppl hate these - Ask Me Anything

  • I think you meant to put this on MM?
  • No, we've done "ask me anything" on this board before.  There hadn't been a few posts here in a while so I thought I would start this one up.

  • I like them!  Nobody ever asks me anything, but I like to ask others!

    - When are you planning on baby #2?

    - How many kids do you want in total?

    - Can we meet for lunch soon?  We need to catch up!

    - What kind of house do you intend to live in next?

    - Are you way below your pre-pregnancy weight?

    No!  Not at all!

What did you get B for her first birthday?

What type of law do you practice (you are a lawyer, right?)?

    - When are you planning on baby #2?  We may not have a #2.  For now we are happy with one and we'll reevaluate after B is 2 or older.  We've also discussed adoption down the road, but only at a discussion level.

    - How many kids do you want in total? See above :)

    - Can we meet for lunch soon?  We need to catch up!  Yes!  I'm most free on Wednesdays and Frdays!

    - What kind of house do you intend to live in next? Ideally I would love to live in the general Dundee area, but we might also end up in the Oakdale area too due to school district preference.  I've always pictured myself in Dundee, but we have lots of friends around Oakdale which could make up for it :)

    - Are you way below your pre-pregnancy weight?  Um hell to the no!  lol

What did you get B for her first birthday?  We bougt her a Land of Nod chair with her name on it, and some water/sand toys.

What type of law do you practice (you are a lawyer, right?)?  Bankruptcy.  I first practiced real estate law with the firm I was at right out of school.

  • I like these too....

    - What kind of adjustments did you have to make to be a part-time SAHM?

    - What's it like working for your dad?

    - Has your hubby's schedule lightened up?

    - How is bootcamp?

    - Can we plan a playdate with the MoO/former MoO nestie kids sometime soon? (as long as no pictures end up on the nest)

    - How do you find time to do all of your volunteer work with your church?

  • -Do you still do yoga?

-What is the thing that you and DH "argue" about the most? Do you argue?

  • I have no interesting questions...

Do you think you'll always own a dog?

Just curious...why do you think you might only have one child?  (My hubby & I are always going back & forth on whether or not to have another).

    - What kind of adjustments did you have to make to be a part-time SAHM? We had been saving very aggressively for retirement so we reduced that a bit (but we still save).  We also shopped around a bit for better deals on existing things (insurance, for example).  Just naturally our eating out was curbed with B's arrival, but we didn't have to cut down super significantly in any particular spending areas.

    - What's it like working for your dad?  I love it.  He is helping me learn the ins and outs of everything without just throwing me into something cold, which I know some firms do.

    - Has your hubby's schedule lightened up?  A bit.  He now gets at least a few hours off on the weekend (a morning or afternoon) and is home closer to 6 or 7 on an average day instead of 9 or later.  Things are still very busy for him at work, though.

    - How is bootcamp?  It was good!  My deal has run out (3 weeks long) and we were on vacation for some of it, but it really kicked my butt and I think my belly is a little smaller because of it :)

    - Can we plan a playdate with the MoO/former MoO nestie kids sometime soon? (as long as no pictures end up on the nest)  For sure, I would love it

    - How do you find time to do all of your volunteer work with your church? I just kind of prioritize it.  I dropped volunteering with youth group (DH does that though) after B arrived.  Usually the church work involves spurts of lots of concentrated work, but it's not super regular - so I'm not necessarily doing things weekly, but I might then spend 2-3 evenings during a week in meetings or planning stuff.

-What is the thing that you and DH "argue" about the most? Do you argue?  Lately with his schedule, the arguments tend to just come from my frustration at his lack of availability (which is not his fault, obviously).  I end up feeling kind of isolated and then out of touch with him, because we often have time only for sort of "update/surface" conversations, you know?

Do you think you'll always own a dog?  Yes. I grew up with dogs and I kind of can't imagine our home without one.

Just curious...why do you think you might only have one child?  (My hubby & I are always going back & forth on whether or not to have another). Lots of reasons, some of which are random and some I'm sure people will judge.  At this point we feel like we can give one child more in life than we can give two - we'd like to fund much of her college tuition, want to continue to travel with her (and increase our traveling), that kind of thing....stuff that would be much more expensive with 2+.  Also, the newborn stuff is no joke.  I know they sleep a lot and everything, but imagining juggling a toddler and newborn is incredibly daunting to me.  There are other reasons too but I won't write an essay.

I do worry about whether she'll resent not having a sibling later and want to make sure we don't raise a stereotypical only child, but hopefully she can look back and know we gave her the best life we could and she was surrounded by friends and family.

  • Did you think I ate way to much at Ruby's baptism party?

What's your least favorite part of being a SAHM?

What's B's favorite thing to eat, both healthy and not healthy?

How do you handle/deal with stress?

  • What is your dream job?

Can you explain CSA and how all that works? I'm so confused by it, but I saw you mention it briefly on your blog and was just curious about it. Does it work like a farmer's market?

  • imageHeidiJo:

Did you think I ate way to much at Ruby's baptism party? What??  I didn't even notice what you ate, woman!  I assume it was less than me b/c you are smaller than me and because I generally eat a lot.  Ha.  :)

What's your least favorite part of being a SAHM?   Rarely having downtime to myself.  Working FT, I could putz around a bit and had the room/time to get some things done (balance the budget, enjoy a latte).  Now when B naps I am working on other things, and she goes to bed relatively late so there's not a lot of evening time built into my day, either.  I'd love to find/make more time to just sit and read quietly.

What's B's favorite thing to eat, both healthy and not healthy?  Her big favorite is dairy - she loves cheese, plain yogurt, and cottage cheese.  She also loves watermelon and peas as far as fruits & veggies.  And graham crackers when she gets them.

How do you handle/deal with stress?  I freak out.  lol.  I guess it depends on where the stress is coming from and what it is - at work, I can easily create a game plan and compartmentalize things.  At home, it all jumbles together and I end up feeling like I'm not doing anything well.

What is your dream job? I don't know if I have a total dream job.  I always wanted to be the president when I was young :)  If I could do it all over again, I think I would go into something like counseling/psychology/becoming a therapist.

Can you explain CSA and how all that works? I'm so confused by it, but I saw you mention it briefly on your blog and was just curious about it. Does it work like a farmer's market?   The one I use is through a local grocery store (carrying only local products) so I get a little more variety than some who go straight through a specific family farm.

Basically you pay upfront for a weekly share of that farm's produce, and you have to accept the weather/crop risks as part of that. We pick up our share each week, and ours also includes bread, cheese or eggs, and a meat share.

  • 1. Dang from above I take it, you didn't buy the yellow house.  BUT FYI the house right next door to me will be going on the market in a few weeks.  Neighbors are top notch and Blythe could come play in our yard. No pressure. Stick out tongue

    2.  what is your favorite color?

  • lol, E!  No we did not buy the yellow house.  We have to get this one ready and put it on the market before we can think of that!  I would love to be your neighbor!

    Fave color is blue
