I finished Smoking Seventeen by Janet Evanovich last week. It was good just like all her other books. Super light and fun read.
I just finished Heart of the Matter last night. I enjoyed it - really sucked me in. It's by Emily Giffin and turns out it's actually a story about the sister of the main male character in her "Something" series (Dex).
So now I'm starting to read Silver Girl by Elin Hildebrand. It's her newest book and according to MIL, it's really good so I'm excited to start it.
At the beginning of the week I finally finished Letters From Home after about 2 weeks of slowly making my way through it. I just couldn't get into it for some reason. It wasn't a bad book, and I actually liked the end, but I just wasn't invested into this one.
I then read Summer Secrets and really enjoyed it. It was a little bit of a mystery, and a little bit of romance. It was a quick easy read that I could really get into.
Thanks to Mels review I read The Girl Who Chased the Moon and loved it. I didn't want to put it down. I finished it quickly, and enjoyed every min. of it. I had never read anything from this author before, and the book was a little different from what I usually read, but I am so glad I picked it up.
I think I might read Garden Spells next since I enjoyed the last book so much. I am going to wait and see what other great books I hear about in this post before I decide!
I read One Summer by David Baldacci last week. (I don't remember if I posted this last week....sorry if I did!) I read it all in one day. It's been awhile since I've done that. It was good. An easy read, but not just trivial plot lines. (About a guy dying from a terminal illness, and his wife dies suddenly leaving him with 3 kids to care for.)
I also read One was a Soldier, by Julia Spencer Fleming. It was the last book in a series of hers. It was good. Dealt with some of the main characters in the series dealing with addiction and PTSD after getting home from war.
Currently, I'm reading a book called A Cold Day For Murder by Dana Stabenow. It was a free download on amazon one day and I put it on my kindle. I'm about 30% of the way through it and I'm not super into it. It has introduced a lot of characters so far and set up the basic idea of the plot, but not much else is happening. (Basically, 2 men disappear into the wilderness in Alaska, foul play is expected, and a woman who used to work for the DA's office gets asked to investigate.)

This week I read The Doctor and The Diva (McDonnell, Adrienne) and LOVED it! I think I read it in a day and a half because I couldn't put it down.
I am currently in the middle of Watch Me Die by Erica Spindler. This is her newest book and includes recurring characters from her other books. So far it's really good!
I'm slacking on reading for fun... I am still reading Sin in the Second City. I like it, but it seems a little disjointed.
I got the little mp3 player recorded version of Smoking 17. I think I'll listen to it today while writing lecture notes!
And I KNEW that Dex sounded familiar in Heart of the Matter... but I didn't remember why!
My Blog
I've got to VERY different books that I am reading right now.
First, I am reading Columbine. It is the story of the school shootings and the aftermath, investigations, media circus. It's a heavy book but very interesting and well written. I cannot read too much at a time though. This one may take me a while.
Because I need something lighter and because of the last Harry Potter movie coming out, I am rereading HP7. This is always a great read!
YAY! Read Garden Spells, you will not be disappointed! I LOVED that book. I would re-read it right now if my friend didn't have my copy!
I'm re-reading Swapping Lives, by Jane Green. Don't have a lot of time to read this week because of a Church service project I am helping our youth ministry program with.

Mel - My husband read this book after if came out and he really really liked it. I actually wanted to read it when he was done with it but have clearly forgetten to add it to my list! Maybe I'll read it next.

Somehow I forgot to post yesterday.
This week I am reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. It's another from my borrowed bag. I was a bit leary of it at first since my mother said she wasn't thrilled with it when she lent it to me (but she gave it to me anyway) plus it was another book set in the WWII era. I'm really liking it, though, even the letter format. It was the perfect read for a rainy day. I do wish I had a whole day to just sit down and read it all the way through. I started it Friday, and after being away from it for a few days I did have to remind myself who some of the characters were.
I'm just so happy to have time to read again this summer after doing very little but wedding planning and setting up house last summer!
