If you could travel to any foreign country just to eat the food, which country would it be?

A country that I haven't visited: France
A country that I would revisit for the food: Italy (oh mah gah, drooling just remembering)

Santo Stefano in Grand Haven has very good gelato. It's actually better than the gelato I had in Florence (but not better than the gelato in Modena).
I think it's funny that I picked the pretentious home of haute cuisine. I'd love to enjoy French food at the source.
Oh yes, I've had it in those places and all over Italy during my tour. I must say, I never met a gelato I didn't like? I think the ones that the name brand ice creams tried to make didn't do it for me but if you go to a specialty place, you can't go wrong!
I hate to be a bandwagon-jumper, but I'd probably say Italy too.
Thailand's noodle carts would also be interesting.
Perhaps we should revise the question to "List the top 3 countries you would visit just to eat the food" to get some diversity of responses.
This post has really made me want to go on a food tour in France! I predict some fantasy trip planning will be happening soon.

This would make it in my top 3 for sure. In fact, it was the first thing that came to mind, but sometimes Indian is not so, ahem, bowel friendly. So I picked France.
Mine is boring, but I would go to Mexico for some authentic Mexican. Yummmm.
France and Italy would probably round out my top 3.
Hey hey, there's no pooping in a fantasy food trip.
I just love the huge depth of flavor there is in Indian cooking. You can't get that with a burger + fries. And while the food we had in Italy was AH-mazing, it still isn't as fully...sensory?...as I imagine Indian food to be based on what I've had here.

LOL. Yes, Indian is so full of flavor. I also love what they do with vegetarian food. Japan probably rounds out my top three. I found Italian food to be just, good tasting, hearty, really complimentary flavors without too much fuss. It was great comfort food, I think.
I think these would be my top three too.

JuliD - I would also like to go to Greece for the food.
And there is nothing wrong with the fondue in Switzerland. Gah - whole meals of just hot cheese, bread and wine. That made me happy.
In the States, maybe Kansas City for BBQ?

Domestic food destinations could be the subject of another poll! I think New Orleans wins that one every single time for me. Beignets, gumbo, po' boys, fresh seafood, and booze with everything!

I *** love gelato. It's actually better than ice cream, but it's more expensive so I don't buy it as often. I would pick gelato as my last meal on Earth, given the chance.
Also - as to the questions - I sometimes think of some and others I have gotten off of web searches for things like "question conversation starters" and then I pick one that isn't too difficult/political/etc.
I fully agree--our next GNO should involve Indian food.
