Professional resume writer?
Hello! Has anyone used a professional resume writer? I think my resume is pretty good, but of course if it could be better, I'm all for it. They all seem really expensive too...
Thanks!
Re: Professional resume writer?
Anyone I know who used one thought they were a waste of $. A friend of mine spent $250 and had to rewrite what the "pros" did for her.
Though it's funny, because I have strongly considered getting into the business.
You're more than welcome to post it here or PM it to someone here who can take a look at it.

I know a few people who used them and were also unhappy.
I may also post my resume here. My issue is that I have at least 3 different ones, some with a few details others do not have.
I haven't tried that, but I have gone to various people to ask them for advice/help editing my resume. My mom happens to be a grammar/professional writing/editing GENIUS & she helped me a ton with my resume. I've also asked former coworkers I respect & trust to help.
I only know 1 person who was happy with the results from hiring a professional resume writer, and that was a middle-aged guy who had worked for the same company for like 30 years (literally started working there in HS) and had never written a resume before.
Good luck!
I think you should! You're always giving great advice and with the wording you use (I've been lurking for awhile) I thought you already were one!
Aw, that's very nice of you. But I'd like to get certified, which requires $ (it's sitting in an account waiting for me to get my act together), time (I need 30 days to take a test, and I don't have the time right now), and some business savvy. Maybe one of these days...

Yes I spent $100 at our state University and it was a total waste of money and my time really. She had nothing constructive to add or change about my resume.
Later on I discovered this board and I have had Dr. Loretta look at mine and she made really good comments/changes to my resume that were right on and I think my resume looks a lot better now.
And to Dr. Loretta yes, I agree that you should consider it. You're really good at it!
