Firefighters visited my house

Last night, I was playing around on the internet getting ready for bed around 10:30pm.  Suddenly, I hear my fire alarms going off.  My cats start going nuts running around.

I wasn't cooking anything and had no reason to suspect anything was happening so my first instict was to go shut off the breaker that runs the alarms.  I did that and start running around the house looking for anything.  No fire, no smoke, nothing (Thank God).  I flipped the breaker back on and the alarms are still going off.

DH is out of town this week so I called him and we agreed I should call the non-emergency number for fire dispatch.  Long story short, everything is fine but it seems like my fire alarms have gone haywire.  They put up two battery operated alarms and had me turn off my breaker and I need to get new alarms later in the week,

With all the excitement I didn't get to bed until about midnight and now I'm exhausted today.  I'm so glad it turned out to be nothing.  Whew, now off to work!

  • That's annoying.  But glad there wasn't anything burning!

Our fire alarms constantly go off, but that's because they are ubersensitive and any bit of smoke when I cook something on the stove sets them off.

I want to know the answer to this too.

I'm glad that there wasn't anything seriously wrong.

  • Glad you're ok!

A few years ago, before DH, I had a fire going in the fireplace.  Apparently it was particularly smoky outside, because my neighbor called 911 and told them the house was on fire and no one was home (I don't know why they thought no one was home - my car was in the driveway like it always was).  Anyway, after they almost broke down the front door, 6 firemen came into the house to make sure we were safe.  I wanted them to stay longer. 8-)

  • I'm glad nothing was on fire but sorry for the hassle.
