Pedi question

Alissa has had the same pedi since she was born. She sees Dr. Kent Amstutz over in the doctor plaza at Midlands. We really like him, and it's super close. I've never had any issues with him at all. Anyway, last year at her checkup (which is the last time she saw him, she's never sick, and if she is, it's just a cold and not dr-worthy, so keep in mind that seeing him is usually a once a year type thing) she asked if she was going to switch to a girl doctor like mommy has. I asked why, did she not like her dr and she said she did like him, but that girls should have girl doctors.

Ok-so here is my question. Should I think about switching her? We have her 7yr checkup in September, should I just ask him? He doesn't seem like the type to be offended by such a question. I just wonder if it's her just making an observation, or if she would be more comfortable w/ a female dr. (She's never expressed that she was uncomfortable w/ him.)

Question 2: there is a female dr in his office, Dr. Kristin Saxena. Anybody have any reviews about her?

Re: Pedi question

  • We always had 'guy' doctors when we were little, and they were perfectly fine, but I remember always thinking a 'girl' doctor would have been better...probably why when I was old enough to choose, I went that route.

And I had that same mentality with the boys too.  We have a male pedi for them, and have seen a female one in the same office for sick visits and I really really liked her and automatically thought "if we had girls, I would take them to her" but have always thought when the boys are older they probably will be more comfortable with a male pedi so we went with a male.

  • I do not have an reviews but she is the wife of my of the doctors I work with. I met her recently and is super nice.
