Northern California Nesties
Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
There are so many abbreviations in the web and I only understand half of them. There's a board called BNOTB. What does it mean? Please share a few of your favorite abbreviations. Perhaps that way I'll increase my web lexicon
Re: What does it mean?
BNOTB= Babies Not On The Brain
I hate "NFT". It means no further text, but I always think it means noted for truth, which makes zero sense once I open the post and see it is blank.
We've got so many newbies (noobs?) we should do this. Good post.
BNOTB = baby not on the brain
kwim = know what I mean
fwiw = for what it's worth
LO = little one
BM cracks me up. On the knot, it's bridesmaid. On the decorating board, it's Benjamin Moore. In my childhood, it's poop.
Haha...and on the bump it's breastmilk!
One that always makes me giggle is POAS: Pee on a stick (aka, take a home pregnancy test.)
Here are a few others that came to mind:
HTH: Hope that helps (saw that more on The Knot than on The Nest)
NSFW: Not safe for work - usually attached to a link to something not work appropriate. Good one to know.
ETA: Edited to add
ITA: I totally agree
BFP/BFN (big fat positive/negative - in reference to pregnancy tests.)
WDYT/WWYD: What do you think/what would you do
IDK: I don't know
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Not sure of the context you're seeing it in. But I often see it in post titles, where it stands for "spin off" from a previous thread.

Thanks! - and yes I meant in the title of a post "s/o of....."
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
In addition to tilden's link to the Nest glossary, there's also a Bump glossary to the left.
And on the adoption board BM = birthmother.
Good God! There's so many!
That was super helpful. Thanks everybody! Next step is to learn how to set up my location, add pics, etc. I guess I just need to play with the website a little more.
IMHO -in my humble opinion.
AF - aunt flo (as in that time of the month)
Donate to My Pancreatic Cancer Research Page
Really? I've only ever seen it defined/thought of it as "humble."
And, haha, the glossary says AW stands for "Attention WANTED"
Donate to My Pancreatic Cancer Research Page
Instead of attention whore? Haha. I didn't know there was a glossary until this post.
