It's the hottest day of the year: WFD edition

it's waaay too hot out today.  DH calls and asks what's for dinner I haven't been home much- it's really busy time for work.

Guess what he wants- homemade meatballs and pasta.

So I turned the oven on and made meatballs because of course when he mentioned meatballs that's all I could think about eating.

  • MH wanted the same thing! I am game for anything carb related (especially pasta) 99.9% of the time. This is one day I could have done without standing over the stove. I did try a new sauce recipe so I guess it was worthwhile.

haha, he's a lucky man! DH just called to check in on me since he's traveling and wasn't happy with what I had for dinner (leftovers). He felt I should have finished it yesterday (I hate being monitored for what I'm eating!). I still can't get over the lack of appetite throughout my pregnancy.

I worked late and called home and asked him to put the grill on so we could throw some burgers on.  I come home and he's got the oven on 425 and is making pizza.

I love to do pizza on the grill, but it stresses him out to do it because you have to have everything ready and move quick.  Oh well, it was nice to come home to him cooking dinner even if the house was 900 degrees.

  • You are a good pregnant wife for making Jason meatballs yesterday.  Denny had to ref a hockey game in Yarmouth, so I took Ridz Crackerz to Friendly's.

Tonight we will have leftovers.  I have no idea what we will eat for the rest of the week.

  • I grilled turkey burgers, new potatoes from the farm down the road, and cukes (sliced, not grilled).
  • Oh...and I pureed watermelon and banana for Abe and stuck in the freezer for a few minutes to cool him off. He loved it.

POTATOES! Where can I find these??? The county girl in me misses local potatoes.

We have the same issue over here...I also made pizza last night, in the oven...silly idea, but it was delicious...shaved asparagus and arugula...yum!

DH gets super stressed out grilling pizza...plus, we have a charcoal grill and it heats so unevenly, so we tend to wind up with part of the crust way over-cooked and part of it a little less done.  We also try to limit grilling to nights when we have a ton of stuff to grill, so we're not wasting so much charcoal - it's kind of frustrating.  I grew up in a house where we grilled almost every night in the summer...not to mention the fact that my dad doesn't think twice about grilling in snow...the good old days Smile

  • We went to Taco Bell/KFC. Ugh. I want salad tonight!

But on the bright side we went there on the way back from me showing M the house I am about to buy and he gave it the Yes.

  • This post makes me thankful for my central air.

Dinner was leftover bbq chicken, cantaloupe and biscuits. I'm trying to keep things simple while I only have my sink cabinet and drawers.
