I need a PCP immediately

I know some people suggested IHA- is there anyone in particular that you really like (I'd be at the Cherry Hill location).  My pregnancy ended with high blood pressure. It went away and then spiked right before we moved. I ran out of my medication- and silly me, thought it was just up because of the move happening a few weeks after my appointment and would fix itself after the move. Blah... I stopped at the store and took my pressure and it's WAY high. I need to get on my medication again :(  This sucks!

So, even though I said I'd stop asking so many questions--- do you LOVE a doctor there?  (last doctor I saw before I moved here was new and a random pick- and a HUGE fail--- dh and I both hated him)

  • I can't recommend a practice by you but family med doctors can be your PCP as well. They don't have to be internal med.

  • I go to Dr. Stacy Smith from Infiniti Health Care in Livonia and really like her.  She is a family care doctor and she will also be my pediatrician when the time comes.

  • yea, I know. I guess I was sorta hoping for the practice to have multiple doctors, in case I ran into the same situation of HATING the doctor I see. Then I could just request a different doctor in the office, and not have to change offices entirely.   Oh well.  Guess I'll give it a go and deal with changing doctors later if I need to.

I'm not sure how you would feel about coming to Dearborn, but, I go to Dearborn Family Physicians, which is a 4 doctor practice on Michigan Ave close to telegraph. My main Doctor is Dr. Peters, but I've seen Dr. Dzobiak too and love him just as much. Dr. Peters is more of a talker and really takes his time to find out what is going on with you. Dr. Dzobiak is friendly, but a lot more matter of fact and less of a talker. So it depends on what you prefer. I'm not sure if this will help you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.Smile

  • I go to Dr. Michael Schaeffer with Cherryhill Medical Group.  The office is in Canton on Haggerty right by Lifetime Fitness.
  • I see Dr. Deborah Kay.  She has a practice in Dearborn Heights on Warren between Telegraph and Beech Daly.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her.  She has been my doctor for years.  She takes the time to really look things over.  She has called me at night after she got test results in, given me her home phone number when I was having some medical problems so I could keep her updated, and will always find room in her schedule to see me when I am sick.

She has the practice with her husband.  My best friend sees Dr. Randy Kay, and loves him, so either would be good.  If I am sick, I usually just go with whoever has the earliest appointment.

My DH did not have a primary doctor, so I told him about Dr. Debbie.  He loves her as well!

Good luck with your blood pressure!

  • I believe the IHA is family/internal.  There are a bunch of Dr.s there.  Dr. Sweet knows his stuff.  Both H and I have gone to him and really liked him.  I do NOT like the NP there.  It's a man.  I'm not in the medical profession, but I got nothing out of him when I was there that I didn't already know.
