Just made this last night and it was really yummy.
Ham and Bean soup:
1 lb diced ham
1 box chicken stock (I use the Swanson's brand)
1 T garlic powder
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 cans Great White Northern Beans
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
3 bay leaves
I put the veggies in oil till they were translucent. I then added the beans, chicken stock, and about a cup of water. Then the ham and garlic powder, as well as 3 bay leaves. Little pepper. Let that come to a boil (skim any froth) and simmer for 1 1/2- 2 hours. I stirred in a little sour cream at the end, to make it creamy, but it was really good on its own as well.
