Sahms, how late is you lo's bedtime?

I realize they have some jet lag going on, but my new neighbors... I can hear the two little girls running around and yelling. It's 11:15pm here!! Even when we were dealing with jet lag, I still had E in bed by 8pm.
those of you who don't have to take yours anywhere in the early morning, do you still do an early bedtime? Or am I weird for making my kids go to bed so early?

Re: Sahms, how late is you lo's bedtime?

  • The girls are 3 & 5, if that makes any difference.
  • DD is 16 months old, and we put her down around 9. She sleeps till 8ish.

  • H use to go to bed at 10pm and slept until 10 am with a 2.5 hour nap. Now he does not nap and goes to bed at 8-830pm and sleeps until 930-10am.

Occasionally he can be up till midnight if he happened to have a nap or if we have company or we are not at home.

  • Depends on what we are doing that night.

DS is usually in bed around 7:30. DD usually goes around 9/9:30 though she should go earlier. I just have a hard time putting her to bed when it is still light out.

DH plays softball tonight at 8:30, and I am considering taking both of the kids. I might regret it though, because DS usually turns into a bear around 7:30. DH is playing against someone I work with though, and I would really like to go. Embarrassed

  • I try to get Owen in bed by 9:30/10 in the summer but sometimes it's later than that and it also depends on if it's the weekend/if we re out of town, etc. During the school year his bedtime is 8:30/9. That's getting into bed by that time. Then we read 3 books and prayers and lights out.

Jocelyn goes to bed around 9 give or take a half hour. Rarely does she go much later. She wakes up around 6:30, then comes in bed with me for about another hour/hour and a half. Owen usually wakes up and comes in our room around that time too.

  • It's 12:45 now, and they're still up. The dad leaves for work at like 7am. Whatever, I guess it must work for them.
  • My SIL never put her kids on a schedule. They literally go until they drop. When they were here for Christmas 2 years ago - her oldest was 3, and he would stay up well past when I went to bed between 10:30 and 11.

  • We are pretty strict with bedtimes at our house.  My girls are 4 & 2, and they are in bed by 7:30-8:00 every night.  They are usually up by 7:30-8:00am.  We deviate from this sometimes on the weekends when we're busy, but during the week we keep as close to 7:30 as possible.

  • Between 8:00 and 8:30 for everyone.  2 years old all the way to 8.  Getting 6 kids to bed can be rough, so it's necessary for sanity around here.  Nick is gone 2ish nights per week traveling for work, so the less resistance from everyone the better.  Kaeden is 8, and while it is early, it works for us.  The hard part is when his friends coming over near or after bedtime...asking if he can play, poor kid!  We keep the same routine year-round. One kiddo is always up at 6:15(still working on that!), everyone else between 6:45 and 7:30.  I wish...just ONCE that they would all sleep in.

All kids with the exception of Kaeden also take a nap during the day...

    6!!!  Was that a typo!??!  :)

  • Not a typo!  We've started doing foster care and have a long-term placement at the moment, 2 boys.  So we are a 3 boy, 3 girl household.  So...8, 5.5, 5, 3.5, 3.5 and 2.

Never a dull moment for sure!

  • During the school year, C goes to bed around 8:30-9, but over the summer, it is later, and she'll get up anywhere from 8-10.
