Haven't used one yet, because the first time I went to the RE, I had just ovulated the day prior -based on the ultrasound the doctor did, which was around day 14-15. I might just buy some off Amazon to make sure I'm ovulating each month. I have my follow up consult with RE next week to go over bloodwork results for me and SA/bloodwork for DH.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family? With DS1, we gave my mom and MIL craft books on baby stuff. With DS2, we had DS1 wear a big brother t-shirt.
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it? We just got a recliner at La-z-boy that matches our living room set. I like it, though you can't rock with your feet up.
First days: Do you have a diaper brand fits your LO best? If you have a cloth diaper service, when did you start service? We used Pampers at first and then switched to Huggies later on. We didn't have issues with either brand.
Updates: We're having a scheduled c-section on Friday afternoon...it's hard to believe that he'll be here in 2 days!
TTC: If you use OPKs, what brand do you use? Are there any quirks to that brand? I did during treatment to make sure I didn't O too early on the meds. I used CBE digital OPKs. I didn't notice any problems. Never o'd early, but did use one after I took the trigger shot just to get a smiley face.
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family? We wanted to do something somewhat elaborate, but it didn't work. We told my parents by giving my mom an US picture - it took her a minute. We did the same a couple of weeks later with DH's parents while we were visiting them in Florida.
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why?I read Your PG week by week. I liked it. I didn't read much more - I probably should have. I perused/skimmed WTEWYE, but I didn't like it. I also read Ina May's book to birth - loved that. I feel somewhat empowered after reading it.
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it?We just ordered our glider so it wont be here before LO gets here
. We ordered one from best chairs - looks club chair like, but is a recliner, I actually didn't like the ottomans as much as I thought I would and the nursery is pretty small so it was better to have the glider that reclines for us. We got it in a light color so we can move it to another room in the future.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room?Not sure yet. We have music on the iPad; I was thinking of bringing a photo of DH and I on our wedding day b/c it always makes me happy. I'm bringing my own pillow.

July 30-Aug1, 2011: legaleagles - Holy heck! How did that happen - only 17 days to go. I have my first internal on Friday morning - curious if I've dilated at all. I have been having an increase in BHs and menstrual type cramping in my lower abdomen and back the last week or so. Each new twinge makes me wonder - and the 15th is a full moon.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room? Having my Mom and DH there to talk to kept me most entertained. Also, the Olympics were on at the time and I watched a lot of Food Network, lol.
First days: Do you have a diaper brand fits your LO best? If you have a cloth diaper service, when did you start service? Pampers all the way. Tried Huggies and had nothing but leaks and blow-outs.
TTC: If you use OPKs, what brand do you use? Are there any quirks to that brand? I used the internet cheapies, and the month I got pg I was using the CBEFM
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family?We just told John's parents, told my parents on father's day with a father's day 'Grandpa' card
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it? We have a Best chairs rocker. I like it a lot. We first saw it at Buy Buy Baby in SJ, but bought it at Naturewood up here in Sac. Its super comfy, but since we bought the rocker version, it doesn't rock when reclined.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room?I used the ball a TON. I sat on it on the ground and suppoted myself on the bed, laid on it on hands and knees on the bed. I also used a rocking chair for a while, and took a shower for about 45 mins at one point which helped me get through some crazy, crazy hip pain. I also did lots of lunges when I was having hip pain.

If you have a cloth diaper service, when did you start service?We like fuzzibunz diapers for E, when we use disposables, we use Huggies Pure & Natural. I am super sensitive to smell, and they are they only brand that I can stand the scent of.

Oh yes! How could I forget!? It was NFL playoffs, so watching football helped me too
And my iPad. I watched Julie & Julia when I was first induced.
Oh, and we had made playlists and had them on the iPad that we listened to quite a bit too.
But I remember the TV was still on when I started pushing, it was middle of the night, so somehow it was TMZ and I made them turn off the tv b/c I didn't want E to be born to trashy celebrity gossip

1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family? Mostly in person and phone calls, then a Facebook post. We didn't do any big fancy announcement things- we didn't think it was appropriate since one of my best friends has had a lot of trouble TTC.
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why? I liked Your Pregnancy Week-by-Week the best. Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy made me laugh out loud, and so did Girlfriend's Guide (but it's a little outdated, which bugged me).
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it? We have a Dutalier custom set from Buy Buy Baby. We paid a fortune and it didn't arrive until she was a month old... I still hugely regret that whole situation. We should have bought used but I was being too picky. I love my glider, but what a freaking waste of hundreds of dollars.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room? I had my iPod, which was nice for the couple of hours that I wasn't in excruciating pain. Kept the lights low, that was nice. Aside from that, there were very few comforts during my labor!
First days: Do you have a diaper brand fits your LO best? If you have a cloth diaper service, when did you start service? We started with Huggies Little Snugglers, which were fine but caused a lot of blowouts. Then we switched to cloth when she was about 2 months (BumGenius 4.0 with snaps) and haven't had a single blowout. We love them.
Updates: 4 month appointment and shots were on Monday. She has dropped to the 38th percentile in weight, but my doctor wasn't concerned. I'm nervous about returning to work and pumping, since pumping is NOT going well.

1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family? This time, I had Lilly in a "big sister" shirt
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why? Not really reading any this time around but last time I read your pregnancy week by week and I liked that one. I started reading what to expect but it was a little too scary for me...to many negative things and just seemed kind of pessimistic.
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it? We did...from BRU and I LOVE it. It wasn't cheap...$400 or so? We didn't get the ottaman...I'm pretty tall and just didn't really need it but I do really love our glider.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room?my little fan was a lifesaver during labor
First days: Do you have a diaper brand fits your LO best? If you have a cloth diaper service, when did you start service?For the first days we had Lilly in the pampers that the hospital gave us...and we kept her in those at home as well until we moved her into bum genius cloth diapers.
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family?
Mostly phone calls, a couple emails. The only people we did something "different" for was my IL's and for them, we brought our dog up to their place in a "Big Brother" dog t-shirt, and gave them an u/s picture. Yes, my FIL asked, "you're getting another dog?" and then my MIL said, "wait, really? Is this real?" about the u/s pic.
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why?
I read pregnancy week by week (though, I haven't really read in the last couple weeks. I like it okay though. I highly recommend Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. The whole first half is just birth stories, and I think they're just awesome to read, regardless of your pain management plans for labor, seriously...but then, I love reading ALL birth stories
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it?
I don't know the brand b/c I bought ours used from a friend.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room?
I obviously won't know till I get there what I want, but we'll have a birth ball (and a doula to show us what to do with it), music, iPad. My H recently went through and put all of our pictures onto my iPad so he can do slideshows of our wedding or honeymoon or other favorites in there so we can watch the pics and talk about those times (or HE can talk to me about those times
). We'll have to see how it goes though!
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family? We visited our family and friends in CA at 19 weeks. We kept it a secret till then, and let my bump be the announcement. Nothing else formal.
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why? I did not read any books b/c I knew that I would obsess over things.
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it? Gliders are not popular here in NZ, so I got a black leather La-Z-Boy. It's awesome. I slept a lot in it during the last months of pregnancy and I still lounge in it daily.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room? Does an epidural count? jk. I brought an ipod with music and travel scrabble to play with DH and a laptop with movies and shorter TV series on it.
First days: Do you have a diaper brand fits your LO best? If you have a cloth diaper service, when did you start service? I have gotten a lot of free disposable diapers from people, so I just use those. No worries with Huggies, Pampers or Treasures brands. As for cloth diapers, we use them part time and I am in love with itti bittis; no diaper service, I just wash them at home and line dry.
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why? I bought WTEWYAE even though it gets a bad rep on the nest and I thought it was informative. I just looked online when I had questions the book couldn't answer.
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room? I watched some TV when my doctor tried to induce me.
First days: Do you have a diaper brand fits your LO best? Seventh Generation fits her the best and Huggies fit pretty well. Pampers are okay, but not my first choice.
Updates:Liam Michael was born on 7/5/11, I was induced at 39 weeks for borderline pre-eclampsia (same as with DS #1). Labor was so much easier this time around.

Never used them. Generally, I just charted and that worked pretty well.
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family?
We announced after DH's grandfather's memorial service. All of DH's family was there. We were in the living room with DH's parents, sisters and grandmother. I gave DH's parents a card that said "Grandfathers have silver in their hair and gold in their heart." They knew what it meant instantly and started jumping around and smiling and laughing. Then MIL ran to the other room to share the news with everyone else.
Since we were out of town, I called my parents the next morning and broke the news to them. Then, when we were back home, I called my grandmothers and my aunts (and Brian's aunt and uncle who weren't at the funeral). Then I posted on Facebook.
1st trimester: How did/will you announce your pregnancy to friends and family? I told my boss that I was going to take a 16 week vacation at the end of May, he didn't catch on. We gave my Mom a picture from our sonogram, she thought we were telling her that my brother and his wife were pregnant. I texted friends a picture of the sonogram simultaneously because I felt bad telling just one of them first! From then on out we just told people, our crafty ways were too crafty apparently.
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why? We liked "Your Pregnancy Week by Week." We just skipped over the parts that talked about any problems there could be, we didn't want to worry unless there was a real chance that something was wrong.
3rd trimester: If you bought a glider/ottoman set, what did you get? Do you recommend it? N/A We got a wooden rocking chair. We love it though!
L&D: What comforts did you or will you use in the labor room?We had our own music. My brother, parents, 2 SIL and BFF were there also. Those are the only comforts I can think of... ETA: Everyone stayed pretty quiet and the lights were off or dimmed during the hard part of labor. H was a good comfort because he was super encouraging. My brother also put pressure on my feet when I asked for it during contractions. Not sure why I wanted that last part but it sure felt nice!

We used 7th Generation disposables for the first 6 weeks (I think!) at home, and pampers swaddlers at the hospital. We had a lot of leaks with both of those.

For our parents we got them together for dinner one night when we were in town. DH's parents were a little suspicious something was up but my mom thought nothing of it. After we were all almost finished with our meals we just casually said "so what are your plans for January?"
For everyone else it was just a "hey were pregnant"
2nd trimester: What pregnancy books are you reading? Which ones do you recommend and why?
I'm reading WTEWYE, I don't really like it too much but it was free from someone who didn't need it anymore. I'm also reading the book by the bump, not sure what its called. I flipped through it at the book store and decided it looked colorful and fun, didn't realize until after that it was from the bump. It's OK but doesn't go in to too much detail about stuff and I wish it had more.
TTC: If you use OPKs, what brand do you use? Are there any quirks to that brand? When trying for DS I used internet cheapies and CBEFM. I loved the monitor but I had borrowed it from another bumpie. It accurately told me my fertile days. The internet cheapies were fine but I did not get a line that was quite as dark as the control line so without the monitor it might have been difficult to tell whether it was a positive or not.

Do you recommend it?Not anywhere near the 3rd tri this time but we love our glider. We got one that reclines as well as rocks. We got it at babies r us. It was expensive but we kept it in the living room when DS was little and now have spend many hours in it either putting him to bed, nursing at night, or sleeping in it if he wakes up in the night. I had read reviews saying some gliders are really narrow but the extra wide ones were huge.
