Anniversay plans?

What did you do for your first anniversary?  We are renovating our basement and are about $10k into it so we don't really want to spend a lot.  I thought about going into the city to recreate the day we got engaged (rowboats at CP, street fair, nice dinner) but now I'm thinking something around here might be nice.  Anyone know of a place with fireworks this Saturday?  I was thinking maybe a picnic near the river somewhere and watching fireworks?  Any ideas you have would be appreciated!

  • we just celebrated 1 year on saturday. we didn't do anything special except go out to dinner (which was paid for by my parents as a gift), rent a redbox movie, and brought home ice cream. we are on a tight budget in the summer so we couldn't afford gifts or anything crazy

i love the picnic and fireworks idea! central park is a great idea as well.

Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
  • we had ours in may, we were also on a tight budget and just want to a fancy restaurant up here in Newburgh, something nicer than you everyday, then we went to my parents for birthday cake (we got married on my moms birthday) and just enjoyed ourselves at home. We only exchanged cards too.

We did basically the same as others...just a nice dinner and gave each other small gifts.   We also took the kids with us to the place that we got engaged and stayed overnight.

  • We ordered take out and each had a few bites of the thawed top tier of our wedding cake.  Sounds pathetic but, our son was only 2 months old on our 1st aniversary and we weren't anywhere near ready to leave him with a sitter.

We just went to dinner too.  We went on vacation to CA the next week but that was more for a nice vacation, it just happened to be near our anniversary.
  • We had ours in May.  We went to Boston for a long weekend.  We went sight seeing and just relaxed.  Also had a nice dinner on the actual day.

  • My  husband surprised me with a weekend away in Montauk.  We had the beach (although it rained all that weekend in 2009), walks, dinners, mini golf and just toured the little city.  It was nice.  This will be our third anniversary next month... we might do a weekend away with our little one.
