QOTD:

Do you nest your silverware in the drawer?

image

Sometimes I feel like I'm crazycakes because I love doing this but seriously...to me it one of life's simple pleasures. I picked out our flatware pattern just because it seemed to nest together so well.

  • Yes I do. Smile

I don't think you're crazycakes, I thought this was how everyone stored their silverware.

  • Yep. We have two sets and it drives me insane when dh empties the dishwasher and mixes the sets and doesn't nest them correctly. I'm a bit of a control freak.

Yes and no. I make sure they're in their proper compartments and all facing the same direction, but the shape of ours won't allow for a neat stack like that, so I don't even try.
  • I like them to be facing the same direction and all together, I've given up on H nesting them, so I'm just happy they make it to the right spot and look OK!

    NO CRAZYCAKES HERE :)

  • Wow, what a beautiful image of nesting silver!  Not crazy, just organized.  We have a couple of different sets of tableware, so we keep it in the same compartment, but that is the extent of the organization.  Perhaps 13 years ago (when we were first married) we took more care and control of our utensils :)

I think I could take some organizing lessons from you lovely ladies. I'm sure most of you would freak if you saw my chaotic house. HA!

Ha, I'm sure I will get there eventually! :o)

We also have different sets of tableware but one is upstairs and one is downstairs. This weekend my husband mixed them all up and I was like, "what are you DOING!?"...hence, my QOTD. :o)

  • I nest as much as possible.  Our everyday silverware is a mash of a few brands, so they don't mesh perfectly.  Our good silverware meshes perfectly, and I like it that way.

  • I used to always.

Now the girls like to help empty the silverware compartment of the dishwasher and put them away, so I'm super lucky if they even are in the right compartment. I figure it's one of those things I can let go because it's nice just to have the help.

ditto. ours wouldn't nest together if I tried. they all go pointing the same direction in the right compartment in the drawer though.

Same here.  And getting DH just to do this is a miracle!

I think my silverware drawer is probably one of the few things in my house that has any order to it anymore!

This. Though, I'm a bit OCD and have considered buying new flatware that will nest.

Ha, the way you wrote that made me think you were saying you "nest" as in "being on the nest" as much as possible. And then you went on to answer the question. It only took me a few seconds to catch up, LOL.

Ours don't nest very well, so no, we don't.
