Auto Glass Repair?

Has anyone had a windshield repaired locally?  Driving home yesterday a rock or something flew up and hit my windshield and now there's a nickel-sized cracked area- awesome.  I know it's very expensive to replace auto glass, and was just wondering if anyone has recs for a repair company that might be able to fix it without replacing it...

Re: Auto Glass Repair?

  • I had a crack in my windshield last year.  Safelite would have been able to repair it if it was smaller than a $1.00 bill.  Mine wasn't so I had to get a whole new windshield.  I'd recommend getting it taken care of sooner than later!

Btw... I ended up not going with them to replace the windshield - but I can't remember why.  They will come to you though and to the fix/replacement, so it was very convenient. I ended up going went with a company the dealer used but the pricing was comparable.

  • I have used Royal Auto Glass and DH has used Safelite.  Haven't had complaints with either.  Both were replaced under insurance.

  • What area are you in? I just needed mine replaced 2 weeks ago and used Ace Auto glass on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie and liked them a lot.

If the crack is smaller than a dollar bill then you can get it repaired.. bigger and you will need a new windshield. They do both.. I had mine replaced, it was done in 1 hour

Also, call your insurance.. if it's small enough for repair then they might pay for it fully

  • I recommend Safelite. My crack was large enough that they couldn't guarantee a repair, but they said lets try anyway. If it doesn't hold you can always get a new windshield. That was almost 2 years ago and it has held perfectly. They cam to my work to do it and insurance paid for it!
