Re: Interview of the Day

  • What is your favorite color to wear?

What is your favorite room in your house and why?

Any sewing/quilting projects you're working on right now?

  • imagerach83:

What is your favorite color to wear?  Turquoise.  I would say 1/3 of my wardrobe is in the turquoise/ teal color family and at least half of it is some shade of blue.

What is your favorite room in your house and why?  My favorite room is probably the bedroom, because it is the most "done".  Because our place is so temporary and has oddly sized doors, windows, and closets, it is the only room I bought curtains for, so those help a lot.  We also bought a really nice bedroom set with wedding gift money, so that is something to appreciate, and it looks really good with the bedding we got as wedding gifts.  Also, I get so sleep there.  Smile

Any sewing/quilting projects you're working on right now?  I have 6 more blocks to piece for the metro quilt I'm doing for Kirk for our anniversary.  After I finish piecing, I'm going to sew all of the blocks together into a top and then put it aside to wait for my metro circles to come back from the embroidery place.

While I'm waiting, I'm going to make this for my friend who went to Alabama and is expecting her first baby in October.

  • What do you love about living in St Loius? What is your favorite local, chain and fast food restataunt? What is the best dessert you've ever made?
  • imageK-hart:

What do you love about living in St Louis? Well, I don't live there anymore, I live in DC (the location thing has been broken since the switch from the old Knot to the new one).  But, my favorite thing about living there was definitely the sense of community.  It is the biggest small town ever.  Everyone asks you "Where did you go to high school?" and immediately knows about your school and probably knows someone who you went to school with.  Neuner, for example, went to high school with one of my good friends from law school.  Strange little place.  It is also nice that the vast majority my whole excessively large family is there.

What is your favorite local, chain and fast food restaurant? I'll answer this for here and St. Louis.

DC: Local- I REALLY love Good Stuff Eatery (Spike from Top Chef's burger joint)

    Chain- Ted's Montana Grill

    Fast Food- Chipotle

    St Louis: Local- Cunetto's

    Chain- Elephant Bar

    Fast Food- Steak N Shake!

What is the best dessert you've ever made?  My husband's family recipe for Banana Cream Pie.  I had to completely adapt it myself but it was definitely the most rewarding when I gave it to his dad and he said it tasted just like his mom and grandma's pies.

  • Favorite song right now?

Thing that turns you on the most about Kirk? The least?

Any foods you refuse to eat?

Where's your next vacation going to be (Not counting STL)?

    What's your worst habit?

Would YOU eat a live octopus for $1,000?

So sorry! I thought you lived in DC and thought I was mistaken. I, personally, love DC!
  • imageamelianguy:

Favorite song right now?  "E.T." by Katy Perry (hangs head in shame)

Thing that turns you on the most about Kirk? The least? The most?  His strength.  He's a wonderful person and can be really strong when I need him to be.  This is both physical and mental.  The least would be his stubborn streak.  I'm very strong minded too so sometimes this leads to lots of impassable disagreements.

Any foods you refuse to eat? I refuse to eat a number of foods, but I have tried them all, except for the ones I'm allergic to.  I can't eat bleu cheese or feta and some other soft cheeses because they're cured with mold that I'm super allergic to, and I choose not to eat intestinal or digestive meats, insects and certain kinds of squash.

Where's your next vacation going to be (Not counting STL)? Um, never?  No, I'm going to the Lake of the Ozarks with my girlfriends the weekend I'm visiting St. Louis in August and we're going to CA for 5 days in September for a friend's wedding.  We're also spending Labor Day in Cleveland from what I understand (although it is for family stuff, so I'm not sure we ever get to really vacation).

What's your worst habit? Probably the internet.  I spend a lot of time online. Like, so much that it is probably unreasonable.  Other than that?  Nagging about small household chores.  Things like not refilling water bottles and leaving shoes in doorways.

Would YOU eat a live octopus for $1,000?  Negative.  I will eat a cooked octopus though!

    - What's something you're looking forward to? HP7.2?!  Or Kirk starting his new job tomorrow.  Both have high potential.

    - What is your favorite thing about your job?  I really love my company.  It is a fun atmosphere, we get to do new things all the time, I can wear jeans to work and they're really invested in everyone who works here.  Work= warm and fuzzy for me most of the time.

    - What is your favorite dessert?  Creme Brulee.  Or Frozen Custard if it is hot outside.

    - What is a dish you'd like to attempt to cook?  A lot of things! I want to make Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon, Ruth Riechl's Lemon Souffle, lots of iconic things I haven't gotten around to yet or that my husband will hate or that I don't have room to do right now (we have a 2/3 size fridge and stove/ oven and a half sized dishwasher- my own personal form of torture).

  • What dish or culinary type skill are you most intimidated by?

What's your favorite guilty pleasure food?

    What's for lunch?

When are you coming out to Denver to see me? :)

What dish or culinary type skill are you most intimidated by?  I'm not great with my knife skills.  I've taken a class but I think I need the intermediate level one to be really confident in them.

What's your favorite guilty pleasure food?  If I go salty, I want popcorn, if I go sweet, a hot fudge sundae!

What's for lunch?  Mixed greens salad with low cal balsamic vinegarette and grilled tequila lime chicken breast (the thin ones that are 3-4oz).  And watermelon and water to drink.

When are you coming out to Denver to see me? :)  Ummm, idk.  Maybe in the Spring.  Because of weddings and holidays I feel like my life is booked until January.  But we'll see each other over Christmas, yes?

totally.  Assuming my BSC family doesn't explode before then, ending with my refusing to come home because I don't want to deal with any of them.

  • imagesarges05girl:

What color are your nails/toes? My nails are some unknown color of hot pink from a nail line I'd never heard of before- I neglected to bring my own for my mani yesterday.  My toes are Sally Hansen HD in "DVD"

     image

Favorite color for nails/toes?  I like Orly's "For Audrey", OPI for Sephora's "Let's Plie" (the perfect shimmery nude), and OPI's "La Paz-Atively Hot"

Favorite TV show/movie?  You all need to watch The Wire.  It was incredible television.  My favorite movies are The Little Mermaid and 10 Things I Hate About You

Least favorite season and why? Season 2.  I prefer the ghetto to the docks.

Whoops. Meant season as in weather, not your show. My fault for sticking it right after a TV question. Stick out tongue

Favorite book of all time?  Ugh, so hard.  Probably "A Separate Peace"

If you could live anywhere in the US, besides DC or St. Louis, where would it be?  I'd live in Phoenix.  I have decided it is the perfect place- it has National League baseball, Southwestern Conference basketball, cheap housing, a decent job market, a desert climate which= no allergies, and it is close enough to drive to a beach.

I think you guys are moving more towards BOTB.....how many kids do you want?  I want 1.  Kirk wants 3.  He thinks the compromise is 2, but really it is how many I can stand having.  And I'm pretty sure that is 1. Big Smile

As Kelly asked Tonia the other day...Do you ever think it's weird that we live nearly the same life? lol  Sometimes very much so!

If you didn't go to law school what kind of job do you think you'd be doing now?  I'd probably work in politics too.  I would have gone the lobbying angle instead of the strategy angle that Kirk took, mostly because people really like to tell me random pieces of information, and as a lobbyist that would be very helpful.

What was your favorite part about your wedding? least favorite?  I loved our venue.  It was perfect.  I hated negotiating the contract for it, and it was my least favorite part of planning.  My least favorite part of the actual day is that it rained and ruined my hair within being outside for 3 minutes.

Who would you pick to play you in a movie about your life?  Emma Stone!

Kids aside, would you ever get Grace a playmate?  Oh yes.  But Grace wouldn't like it very much, she's an only dog kinda pup.  Loves to play, but wants her family to herself.

How is Grace? We haven't seen a new picture of her in a long time.  Grace is just dandy!  The big development in her life is that she hates the Yorkies who live in the next building now because they tried to attack her, and I kind of hate them too because their owner had them off leash, no collars, no licenses roaming around the small grassy area in our complex.  Highly illegal, dangerous and on a major road, and just rude.  Then she yelled at me to "control that animal" while I was pushing her dogs away from Grace.  Um no.

    Here are some recent pics:

     image

    snugglin her dad

    image

Her pitiful curled into a ball "why do you leave me" face that I get every morning.  And yes, that's my pillow that she is laying on.

What is your favorite summer cocktail.  Kirk calls this one the Monster-several shots of Absolut Berri Acai and equal parts Minute Maid Pomegranate Lemonade and Diet Sierra Mist.  Delish. Or, watermelon margaritas made with real frozen watermelon.

What is your favorite tourist spot in D.C?  WWII Memorial. It is gorgeous, and there are always veterans there with their garb, I love to see them there being recognized for their service.
