Hi! and a question
Sorry for the completely random post by a completely random stranger. I don't know what the new person protocol is over here. H and I are making the final move to Atlanta this weekend and I have a real quick question for you ladies. What is the deal with The Dump? (besides what an awful marketing decision it was to call a furniture store that) I gather from Google that it's a furniture store, but is it donated furniture or scratch and dent or what? I can't figure out why they call it the dump. We're in the market for a new sofa and I can't tell whether this place is worth checking out.

I've never been to The Dump (and it may be the unfortunate name that has truly kept us away) but I've heard its hit-or-miss. You will feel corralled like cattle trying to look at items, but if you get what you want for 60% off, it could be worth it. I don't believe its scrathc and dent, but I don't know that its IKEA cheap either.
There are a lot of furniture stores off Jimmy Carter Blvd up I-85.

I've been once and the prices are decent, though still too high for rugs for my budget. It is new, but the stock is limited. The store is only open on weekends. It is huge and a maze to walk through, but there is a huge selection.
If you are looking for something and don't mind not having a name brand store, I'd definitely consider buying something there.

Name brand is not an issue for me, but stores where there's barely enough room to walk and everything is just kind of crammed in make me a little crazy. I don't have the patience to find something I like in a store that looks like a tornado came through.

I didn't find it to be too crammed. A few of the living room sets were set up as you'd normally see them, but most were in rows. It's just a bunch of aisles. I didn't feel like cattle being corralled at any time. It wasn't crowded at all when I went (maybe because it was a Sunday afternoon?). I didn't have any problems walking around and I'm legally blind, if that helps.
I think it's worth checking out to save some money. I'll go back when I'm in the market for furniture. Personally, I'd be more willing to buy pieces there than IKEA, but that's mostly because most of IKEA's pieces are not even remotely my style.
Hey there... I am a furniture sales rep. The Dump isn't really 'a dump'. If you're in the mood for shopping - Go. The one good thing about them is that they have a very large scale of product from low-high end. As well as American made, mostly import though.
I suggest UnderPriced Furniture. They are very aggressive on their pricing, and they have a large selection also. (When you walk in their store the arc bed up front is mine)
