Re: prepare to die from the cuteness

  • Oh goodness!  Want!  If dalmatians weren't so dang temperamental I would rescue one.  I haven't had good experiences with dalmatians, which makes me sad.

  • it's like the movie!

so why did the dog have a c-section? Is this a common practice that I don't know about?

It's not common practice in the US, but maybe the vet or the breeders had some reason to believe she needed that. Or maybe it is common practice in the UK.
  • I really don't know much about puppy births, but they were probably worried that she'd be worn out by 16 and give up.

It said they only thought it would be four. Having a litter of 16 puppies sounds like a nightmare for the momma and the breeders. That is a lot of *** to clean up.
  • idk about other breeds, but BTs are almost always scheduled C-sections. It's because they have formal events on their calendars and prefer not to rearrange things just for giving birth. Okay, maybe it's because they have gigantic craniums and have a tendancy to get stuck. I wouldn't think that would be an issue with a dalmation, but maybe momma was having problems and they needed to get the babies out?

  • Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine how she'd have the energy and ability to deliver 16 puppies! I mean, many twins born to humans are scheduled c/s so I'm not surprised that when they found out she was having 16 puppies they thought she might want some help!

  • That's just it -- they never did find out until they started pulling them out. All along they thought it was a normal puppy pregnancy. Although it said mom was one of 16 also, so maybe they should've been suspicious. lol

Good lord! How do you think she's having 4 and she has 16?! That's amazing.
