Forgive my ignorance; I sometimes don't read the prenatal posts since we're nowhere near ready to TTC...however I'm wondering, do prenatals include the DV (daily value) needed of calcium?
I've had acne my entire life (or so it feels); I went to my first ever derm appt 2 wks ago and was given a new topical routine (I am anti-meds; so we decided to do topical and see how it works b/c I agreed to any meds). One of the major things they stressed is how dairy; especially milk, can imflamme acne and to minimize your consumption.
I used to drink milk every morning at breakfast and have yogurt for a snack everyday. While I've cut out the milk and sometimes have yogurt; I'm nervous that now I'm not getting the DV of calcium I need.
Do anyone know of a vitamin that includes things like fiber, vitamin and calcium; all in one?
Re: s/o prenatals
I have been to a few different dermatologists and I was never told that milk consumption is related to acne. I don't think that I would stop drinking milk, you aren't consuming an abnormal amount in the first place.
Honestly, you should be taking a prenatal vitamin regardless of TTC or not. They are the best vitamin for a females body. My PCP recommends prenatals to his 80 year old patients as well as his 20 year old patients.
I don't know, I'm included to limit it. My mom stopped drinking milk years ago and limited her dairy intake because she has ezcema and the dairy does cause it to become inflammed. A lot of girls on F&B said their derms have said similar things and they've seen big results from limiting it.
I guess the reason I'm most included to do it is because knowing my mom has issues. Plus, I'm sick of the acne and if replacing my milk in the morning with a glass of water instead helps to get rid of the embarrasing pimples I still have at age 25, I'm down.
I just want to make sure I'm getting enough calcium in my diet elsewhere.

I hear you on this Hannah, and I don't blame you for being willing to limit your milk intake. I'm dealing with something similar and it's so freaking frustrating, I'm to the point where I'll really try anything.

Hannah, the one I'm taking only has 15% of your daily value. I don't take an extra supplement because I eat plenty of cheese and drink milk. Never heard that about acne though.

Becca- I'm glad I have someone to relate to. I had hoped with age it would get better, and it hasn't. Like you said; I'm pretty much willing to try anything (although I really hope to avoid any antibiotics/meds)

It sounds like you're dealing with hormonal acne, which is why all of the OTC treatments in the world won't help. I've been dealing with it for 20+ years, and the only thing that's worked best is the combination of prescription strength topicals (benzoyl peroxide wash, and two creams) and meds that I'm on right now.
Have you tried changing your birth control pill? Some are more/less likely to help with hormonal acne. It could be that a different pill combined with the topicals your dermatologist has prescribed would work. Then you wouldn't have to add a acne-specific pill to the mix.
And I've genuinely never heard of dairy affecting acne. You do need to be careful with calcium supplements, however, because too much calcium can also be problematic.
