I am about 99% sure now that I didn't get the promotion at my office. I, as in ONLY I, have been running this place for months, and before that, I basically was running it on my own as my former boss did nothing. They had the meeting Tuesday about it, and my boss (the top dog) was just here, and he said "[Other Owner] and myself will meet with you sometime next week to talk about our decision."...Yea. And this is a pretty laid back guy, so I was kind of staring him down to see if I could get a hint at all, even a smile, and nothing. ALL of the office managers are men here. Seriously...they just did this to another lady that had worked for our agency for YEARS, and the manager of her office left, and she put in for the job. They hired a guy the same age I am with NO insurance experience to fill the position. I am so pissed off about it right now. I know it isn't over until it is over, but I just have a disgusting feeling about it. And it wouldn't be as bad except the main owner (the guy that was just here) had talked me into putting in for it and his daughter just told me how bad he wanted me to be the person in charge here. But, I guess if I don't get it, whenever Jeff and I do get pregnant the decision to be a stay at home mom or not will be pretty frickin' easy!
Re: UGHHHHHHH
Man! The job news for us today is totally sucky :-(
I hope that you do get the promotion you so clearly deserve...however, if not, then I agree that this may be a great chance for you to think about if you even want to work for a company who treats its current employees like crap when promotion time rolls around.
The last company that I worked for (I was only there two years, thank goodness) had a chauvenistic Sr. VP of HR, who all but said that he preferred men in leadership roles (yes - this was the head of HR!), and made no bones about bringing in new people over promoting from within our department. So there we were, the HR department, and we pretty much knew that when promotion time came we were gonna get screwed. As of now, that entire team (18 employees) except for two people are gone. All since he took over the year that I started. And we were working well together when we had no boss while the company was recruiting for his position.
So yeah - getting laid off from that job was a very good thing for me. So please know that there is life (and a better job) after working for idiots! Still hoping that you get the promotion, though, if that is what you really want :-)
It's such a shame when companies that we have worked so hard for, can't even be loyal to us when they are able to. State of affairs in alot of workplaces unfortunately. That's frustrating, Danie, I hope it works out for you somehow. I'm sure it will one way or another!
Thankfully baby R is soon to be here....then I will have 12 weeks to decide if I want to stick with the company or not.
Yeah this is a horrendous job day for A10 nesties I must say.
That really sucks. Like REALLY sucks. Although you're right it's not certain yet, unfortunately I think our instincts are often correct and (take it from me) it's better not to get excited about it and be pleasantly surprised than the other way around! I would have a hard time staying with a company that did that to me after all of your hard work, and you being the obvious choice for the position.
Make a baby and go be a sah mama!

This blows! Pardon my potty mouth but today is a terrible A10 job day. On th eother hand I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason & like others said it will make your decision to be a SAHM much earier when that time comes (& it will soon - I just know it!).
::HUGS:: for you
::CROTCH KICKS:: for those stupid men!
What a bunch of BS! Sounds like you and the other gal need to get together and file some discrimination type of lawsuit!
But maybe there is a silver lining in all of it and like you said you'll get to be a SAHM!
Keep us updated as to what happens next week!
