Ugh! &^%#@*^%#@

Ryan came to meet me at lunchtime because he wanted to go down to see Carly at daycare, meet her teachers, etc. Of course she was sleeping, lol. So we grabbed a quick lunch. Then Ryan remembered I had called him earlier bc the low tire pressure light came on this morning on my drive to work. He has a tire pressure gauge in the glove box and he checks the tires. The one is 10 lbs low BECAUSE IT HAS A NAIL IN IT!!! I am the freaking road hazard queen. Sigh. Anyway. We only have one car seat base installed, in my car. We never put the other one in his (it's a 2 door car, but obviously we should have had it there for emergencies... like this!). So he went back to work, is going to call me when he leaves work so I can go test the tire pressure. If it's still the same he said it's okay for me to drive home on it... but that still makes me nervous bc I'll have Carly. If it's low,  he'll drive home, get the air compressor thing, and drive back to my work to fill it. And obviously we have to get it fixed tonight (luckily Sears Auto is open until 9:00).

So, I'm glad it happened on a day he was coming here which NEVER happens. I'm glad it'll be fine/it's fixable. But of course we have plenty to do tonight since we're leaving for my parents' tomorrow and now we have to get the tire fixed. And as I'm explaining this all to my coworker she's like well, you could have just put the base in Ryan's car and switched. (duh) Or you could have gone to a gas station to put more air in the tire and maybe it would have held it, or at least held more air, until you drove home. (duh). WHY DIDN'T WE THINK OF THOSE THINGS?

Ugh! So annoyed!

  • That sucks. I hope its in a place where they can patch it. I had that happen to me a few months ago but the nail was on the edge of the tire where they couldn't patch it. I have an all wheel drive car so I didn't just have to replace that tire I had to replace my other 3 perfectly good tires as well. Good luck!

It's so annoying when someone else can immediately think of a handful of simple solutions to a problem that I never even considered!

This. It's like the common sense mechanism in your brain just stops working when things like this happen. I always start thinking of worst-case scenarios and the most complicated fixes. Hope you made it home ok!

  • That stinks!  Hope everything is a little better now.

  • It's all fine now, thanks. The tire stayed at the same pressure, C and I went home. R went to get the tire fixed... and brought the 5-inch nail home to show me Indifferent
