Another tipping question

I just had my car detailed by a mobile service that comes to you.  It's a small company, one man.  He charges $45 for wash/vac and he does a great job.  He spent about 1.5 hours on it.  Would you tip him?  I didn't think about it til after I paid.  I'm thinking no.  My business is a service based company where we come to you.  We make our own rates.  No one tips us.  Hmmm...

Re: Another tipping question

  • Generally, if someone owns their own business you don't tip. I still tip my hairdresser even though she owns the business, but it's a personal choice.

  • Good lord. The detailers in this area aren't mobile and charge twice as much!

I guess we can put that in the "Plus 1 for Pensacola" column. I got my Jetaa fully detailed at a local place last week and it was $53 with tax.
