blerg - state shutdown week 2

We're into our 2nd week of minimally functioning state government here in MN and it blows.  State parks are closed but you can visit for the day.  Trash isn't getting picked up so things are getting destroyed by animals and spread everywhere.  Restrooms are also closed so... well you can guess where that one is going. There have been two MAJOR breakins/vandalism issues with some of the state parks since there is nearly nobody there and the offices are closed.

The agencies that process the licenses that bars, restaurants, and liquor stores need to not only sell but purchase product are closed so as of yesterday, any Miller beer product can't legally be sold and had to be pulled from taps and store shelves because their vendor permit expired even though they paid the fees for it two weeks before the shutdown.

Teachers, nurses, cosmetologists and anyone else required to obtain a state license can't renew theirs if it expires - even if they started the process early.  Once July 1 hit, nothing went any further.

Nobody can get a new driver's license because the state maintains the testing facility.  (you can renew one that you already have because that is county) You also can't get a fishing license and MN is all about their lakes.  The resorts and fishing outfitters have got to be crying a tear in their non-Miller beer over the lost revenue on this one. My car title that was processed in early June is probably sitting on some vacant desk somewhere, waiting to be finished/mailed.

And today, our governor announced that he'd be willing to sign the budget deal that was proposed to him the day before the shutdown with a few minor concessions.  Seriously!?  This could all have been avoided if he'd just done it in the first place.  What a pain in the butt.  I'm so sick of politics.
