I just learned that little boys get erections.
I had no idea! My boss's son peed all over the shower curtain this morning (he's 3) because he just woke up and had morning wood. She found this hilarious, but I was just stunned during the whole conversation.
I thought this was a puberty thing!! Girls get periods, boys get boners.
Agghhh!!! I don't know why this is scary to me, but I'm completely freaked out thinking that the kids I used to teach may have little hard ons in their pants. My mind cannot comprehed this.

Re: I just learned that little boys get erections.
Yep. I never knew wtf to do with "it" when I was changing diapers (I used to work in daycare) and the little boy had one. It wasn't often but definitely happened.
What I just found out that I didn't know is that sometimes newborns (boys and girls) lactate a little bit in the days following their birth b/c of all the hormones from their moms. And that while it's not common, little baby girls can bleed/spot very little, kinda like a psuedo-period for the same reason. Thank God they told us those things in our L&D class otherwise I would have sh!t my pants if either of these things happened to our LO.
Good to know. If I ever have a baby my mom will be here for at least two weeks afterward. Thank goodness because I realize more and more everyday that I am clueless!! Never even changed a diaper!
my h told me that once and i was like huh?? i thought the some thing like...how?? but then in chelsea handler's book she talks about how she had a crazy masturbating spell when she was 8. i was like oh my i didn't discover that until much later. but then i also remember there was a house episode about a little girl and she was rocking back and forth and her mom thought she was having a seizure and house said nope, that's not it. it's so weird! and i definitely didn't know about the lactating thing! i'm still sort of confused by that!
No reason to be freaked out, it's not like they get them because they're turned on!
And while this stuff makes you uncomfortable now, once it's your son none of it does. I remember feeling so awkward about bathing little boys but now I don't think twice about it.
Haha! You'll be fine! The only tricky part is uncircumcised vs circumcised. And they'll show you how at the hospital I'm sure, or your pediatrician will.
Haha you're funny. My hospital had this great On Demand with video's for everything that you could watch and learn...unfortunately everytime I was trying to watch specifically the bf'ning one someone kept coming in.
And you will SOOO want to be gone by the time they let you leave. I had to stay 3 nights and wanted out so bad!
Ditto, MD! I mean, I know I have two kids already, but they're girls. I know how to handle that stuff. ha. I still get all ooged out when I change my nephew's diapers. I'm like, uh, so yeah, what do I do with this thing?
Exactly! We almost had to stay an extra night (I was there for 3 nights, and a V-birth!) I was sooo happy to leave!
And kare- you'll be fine. If you have a boy I'll come stay with you to show you the ropes
This conversation is cracking me up! The short answer is nothing, just clean it up and let it go wherever it does on it's own. lol
