I called COBRA today, and they said that it would be $1400 a month for the two of us to be covered. noflippinshit are we going to pay that.
however, DH just signed us up for his insurance and we'll cancel in September when mine starts.
phew! i feel much better now.
Re: f/u health insurance
WHAT? Are you kidding? What kind of plan was that for? Do they have a cheaper option? I have to find some kind of insurance from August 1 through October 31 (my benefits for the new job kick in November 1) - $1,400 is not doable for us.
But enough about me - I'm so happy you guys have found a solution! How's your itching thus far? Are you feeling better?

I guess it's 1400 a month if we wanted to continue the same insurance coverage, I didn't get any information on different options.
I don't even know why we didn't think of DH's insurance. I'm guessing because I was afraid we'd have to stick with it for a whole year. Now that can cancel at any time, I feel much better. It's still not great insurance, but it will do until we can switch to mine.
I'm pumped and feel so much better now that we're covered. it seriously scared me every day to go out and train and know that we didn't have any insurance haha. Also, I just went off my BCP, so I know that if something was to happen, we have coverage, even if it is still a month and a half.
I hope they have cheaper options because I know we couldn't do $1,400/month. I'm the same way as you - I don't feel comfortable running so many miles (or with H biking to work everyday on busy streets) without insurance; it's too much of a risk.
I'm glad you feel better! And OMG, did you go off BCP to TTC?? I'm SOOOO nosy, sorry! Hahaha

COBRA is crazy expensive. But I just thought of something...
With the new health insurance laws I'm allowed to be covered on my parent's insurance still even though I'm married. Melks, I think we're about the same age. It cost my parents $0 to add me to their plan - free health insurance! You get kicked off at age 26 I believe so I'm good for another year and three months. This might be something you could look into.

Yup. Cobra SUCKS!!!!
H just switched companies so obviously our health insurance changed as well... well, apparently with his new company he has to be employed for a month before health insurance kicks in {which is Aug 1} so we only have a few more weeks... but we got the info for Cobra at it was the same price. Needless to say, we didn't do it. We're just waiting until Aug 1. Insane.
That's such a relief. I hope you don't need to use his insurance, but I'm glad y'all have it if necessary.
And, I'm with PP. Are y'all going to TTC soon?!

Noron, I just realized I didnt answer one of your questions! The prickly heat has gone from unbearable to uncomfortable. I'm on zyrtec so that is helping a little bit. i'm also down to one shower a day from three a day last week.
as for my parents putting me back on their insurance, my mother literally just took me off last month, and when I was talking with my mother (she was trying to help me find options), she just kept saying, too bad I just took you off!
I will say that we have decided to push up TTC for a variety of reasons. Right now, I just stopped taking BCP to see how my first cycle goes, especially since on this current (well, now previous) BCP I didn't get my period. I did buy OPK's to get an idea of using them, but I guess this month we're not doing anything to prevent. We're at the point where if it happens now, we'd be 100% excited, and then theres some wiggle room if it takes a while. Only about 2 people IRL know haha.
Looks like I'm going to have to look in to some non-COBRA options. Shiit.
Melko, I'm glad you're itching has lessened a bit - and that you're down to one shower a day, hooray! And YAY for TTC! That's so exciting for you guys!! You'll have to keep us posted - I get really excited when people that aren't me get KTFU, haha.
Does this mean me and Panda are the only ones on this board not TTC??
