Re: The Friday Five

  • 1.  What phobia do you have? It would probably be easier to list the ones I don't have! But the biggest one is the dark; I hate being alone in the dark and am always pretty sure that there is something or someone lurking in there waiting to pounce.
    2.  How did your phobia come about?/Or how do you think it came about? I don't really know. I know it's normal for most kids to be afraid of the dark and maybe I just never grew out of it. I also used to have bad nightmares as a kid and they always involved somethnig happening in the dark. As an adult, I'm also a little bit paranoid about being attacked/surprised by someone in the dark and not being able to help myself or no one being around to help me.

    3.  If you could replace your phobia with any other, which one would it be? That's a tough one, I think I'd rather be afraid of something tangible. I'll go with spiders (even though I already dislike them I don't fear them per se). At least then I could kill them or have someone else do it.

    4.  What phobia would you wish on your worst enemy? Why. Agoraphobia, fear of being outdoors/in large crowds. They'd probably never leave their house and then I'd never have to see them again and isn't that the goal with your worst enemy?

    5.  What phobia do you not wish on you worst enemy? Why. I'll go with clausterphobia (sp?) Jay deals with this on a small scale but it can be super debilitating depending on how extreme it is and make it difficult for the person to function in certain situations that require calm (ie stuck in an elevator)

  • 1.  What phobia do you have? 2. The dark and thunderstorms/tornados

    2.  How did your phobia come about?/Or how do you think it came about? I have always been scared of the dark. I watched too many scary movies as a kid and now I have to have every light on in the house if I am alone, or I put a few on if I am leaving the house.

Storms: I never cared for them but when I was a kid a tornado touched down in town and my dad was not home. My mom could not get in touch with him so it freaked me out. It is so bad that to this day if we get very severe weather I will still pack up and hang out at my parents house if Jon is working or not home. I hate being alone.

    3.  If you could replace your phobia with any other, which one would it be? None. I don't think mine are truly that bad to have, so I would much rather keep mine.

    4.  What phobia would you wish on your worst enemy? Why. Idk, I don't like to wish bad on anyone really.

    5.  What phobia do you not wish on you worst enemy? Why.

  • I ain't skeered uh nuthin'.
  • 1.  What phobia do you have?  Claustrophobia and spiders (to the point of panic attacks) and falling.  Not heights, just falling.

    2.  How did your phobia come about?/Or how do you think it came about?  My mom told me about the time when she was pregnant with me and a spider egg sac hatched inside their light fixture and thousands of baby spiders descended from the ceiling.  Don't know where the falling thing came from.

    3.  If you could replace your phobia with any other, which one would it be?  Agoraphobia.  It would give me an excuse to stay in all the time.

    4.  What phobia would you wish on your worst enemy? Why.  Not so much a phobia, just intense paranoia.  I'd want my worst enemy looking over their shoulder all the time.

    5.  What phobia do you not wish on you worst enemy? Why.  Fear of germs.
  • 1.  What phobia do you have? I'm not sure if this is a phobia or not, but I HATE being alone. In my house or out of the house. I'm completely terrified to be alone.

    2.  How did your phobia come about?/Or how do you think it came about? A few years ago, right before I met Glen, I was walking by my house around 8/9 at night and was kidnapped/mugged/raped at gunpoint by a stranger. It was the hardest and scariest time in my entire life.

    3.  If you could replace your phobia with any other, which one would it be? Anything else, honestly. I'm so scared all the time. Its been 4 years. I'm not sure i'll ever get over it.

    4.  What phobia would you wish on your worst enemy? Why.Spiders! Because they are everywhere.

    5.  What phobia do you not wish on you worst enemy? Why. Probably what I have. Just being scared of the dark, being scared to be alone, being scared to go anywhere.

This is hard for me to talk about in general because it's hard to re-live this moment. I think for a lot of women, it's their worst nightmare. I'm just happy that I made it through alive although I'll never get over it.  I would never wish this experience on anyone.
