I have a question and I hope to not offend you by it.
When you had DD, I remember looking at her pictures and definately seeing your husband. No questions who the daddy was.
My question, could you really see it and did it drive you crazy everyone telling you all the time?
DS looks a lot like DH. I knew it from the 3D ultrasounds but it is starting to get under my skin that everyone keeps telling me how much he looks like DH. Not that I mind he looks like his dad but I carried him for 9 months! There has to be a little of me in there...somewhere.
And, I look at him and I really can't see it. I just see my baby.
Just wondering.

:::butting in:::::
I am having this same issue. The first thing my MIL and DH's family say when they come over is, "Wow! Ry you look just like your daddy!" I think it bothers me because in fact he looks EXACTLY like my father and a lot like me. I see my dad every time I look at him. I am not sure why it bothers me so much but it does.
DD on the other hand looks exactly like DH.
When I see Holly's kiddos, I think they look exactly like her DH. I am pretty sure I tell her a million times. She knows she can tell me to f*ck off though.
~I'm butting in too~
My daughter looks exactly like my husband & it used to drive me nuts too when people would say she looks just like him. That being said she definitely has my personality & I couldn't be happier. I'll take her looking like him (he's much cuter than I am) & having my personality any day! You'll get used to it sooner or later.
I joke that I'm going to get him a shirt that says...Yes, I know. I look like my dad.
I love my husband and of course I found him attractive but like I said. Can't something be like me? I'm just happy he has some red hair and claiming it has my family's red hair!
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who has these feelings
OMG...I'm sitting at my desk laughing!
In MY little world he SOOOO looks like me & acts like DH.
That is great! That must be it though. One thing for sure...you definately not question who his dad is. No paternity test needed for this Jerry Springer Show episode!
I have read this theory too, but more from the angle that the kid looks like the father so the father knows it's his and he will have a biological/physical and emotional connection to it.
I have read this theory too, but more from the evolutionary angle that a baby look like the father so the father knows it's his, and therefore he will have a biological/physical and emotional connection to it.
This cracks me up! Do you know how many times i hear that J looks just like O, and O looks just like DH so c'mon. Apparently everyone thinks the kids look like DH. It doesn't bother me one bit but at the same time there are definately times when I see myself in the kids. That's the beauty of God's work, truely children of both parents
Yeah, I totally feel your pain. It's so petty, but it really annoyed me. Not enough to actually say anything (that'd be bratty), but it did annoy me for sure.
I think what it was for me is that (like you said) I carried her for 9 months, and I honestly expected her to come out looking like me. I dont know why, it just never even entered my mind that she'd come out looking like him. I thought I'd see a baby with a head full of dark hair.. not so much.
It's just weird to see something YOU created (in your body, that is) not look like you.
And even though this doesnt make sense, when people would constantly say, "OMG, that is Ryan!" I wanted to scream, "Yes but she's mine too, in fact I'm the one that just spent the last hour feeding, burping, and changing her..."
LOL, so lame!
It'll get better. His looks will change so much in the next year, I bet he ends up resembling you as well.
