Brunch ideas

DH and I have birthdays in the same week.  We thought it would be fun to have a joint birthday/brunch party.  He doesn't really enjoy grilling and it seemed like a good alternative to a cookout.  We're fine on drinks---coffee,juice,  bloody mary bar, mimosas.  I'm having a problem with the menu.  DH wants to do pancakes, sausage and bacon.  I don't think they'll hold well.  Honestly, I think cold pancakes are kind of gross.  I was thinking of doing a spiral ham, quiche, baked french toast casserole, bacon, sausage, fruit, scones and maybe muffins or some kind of pastry.  Any thoughts?  What would you expect or like at a brunch party?

Re: Brunch ideas

  • You listed all of the suggestios I was going to make! Sounds yummy!
  • 1) I'd be happy to eat that menu anytime.

    2) If you're doing a spiral ham, I also like biscuits or mini-croissants with honey mustard for small sandwiches.

  • I like the idea of a spiral ham as well - get some small croissants if someone would rather make a sandwich.

Don't forget lots of fresh fruit too!!

  • I liked your suggestions.  Waffles hold up better than pancakes.  With everything else, you probably don't need them though.
