Who has seen "Wicked" at the KC?
I was reading the post below and just wanted to say - I saw it a few weeks ago and I loved it! And I don't generally like musical theater.

The woman who played Elphaba was just amazing.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
Re: Who has seen "Wicked" at the KC?
I saw it the last time it was here (2008 maybe?) and we're going tomorrow night! I can't wait. This time I actually know the music so I'm sure I'll enjoy it more.
(Tis both a blessing and curse to know the storyline/music well beforehand, but I think in my case I need to know it to remember more)
Dang, you have a good memory!
I'm really excited, we are going on the 31st and I can't wait.
It is FANTASTIC!
Disclaimer: I'm a huge musical theatre fan, having grown up singing in musicals, but that also makes me a pretty good judge of good productions. And I can say, I had very few reservations about this one. It was, almost top to bottom, outstanding.
Elphaba: Her voice was incredible. Her acting was great. You really felt and saw each emotion on her face, heard it in her voice. And I actually like her voice better than Idina Menzel's. (I KNOW! Bold!) She's now the longest-running Elphaba in Wicked history. The one down side -- when an actress has done the part that many times, she sometimes gets a little too comfortable with it, and the enunciation suffers. I felt like that was going on here. If I didn't know all the words, I might have been confused at times.
Galinda: HIGH-larious. Adorable, funny, great comic relief. Good voice, though I suspect she was a big under the weather. Major crack on one of her high notes. But overall, she was fantastic. I could very clearly see the Kristi Chenoweth influence on the role, so it seems she stayed very true to the original character.
Wizard: He was great. Lovely voice, perfect for the part.
Fiero was the biggest weak point, imo. I wish he'd had a stronger voice.
ENJOY! It's just sublime.
Thanks everyone, now I am really excited to go see it! I don't really know much about the musical, so it is good to hear that you don't have to know everything about the musical to enjoy it.
I saw it yesterday's maintee with a girlfriend. We both have seen the show before.
Overall it was fantastic! Much funnier than I remember it being. Plus I love the songs and the staging. I thought Glinda was trying just a bit too hard to be Kristin Chenoweth. Her performance was just a bit too over the top in my eyes. She was good, but it just felt a tad bit contrived and overly campy.
Elphaba definitely has a good voice. I agree that Fiyero was definitely the weak point.
