Pay for recruiting services?
Has anyone ever paid for a job recruitment service? If so, please share your experience, the price and whether you felt it was worth it. Thanks!
Re: Pay for recruiting services?
Do you mean as an employer or an employee?
My recommendation is not to do that. Companies should be paying recruiting firms, not job seekers. I haven't heard of anyone doing this and getting a good result.
Look for engineering recruiting firms that work in the area, whether they're located here or not.
ETA: Post on MM or some other boards and ask if they've used any engineering recruiting firms they can recommend.
I agree. He should definitely be in touch with any recruiting company's in the area, specifically in the engineering field, but I don't think that paying them would give him any more of an advantage. GL!
What kind of engineering?
What kind of work experience does he already have?
He hasn't looked into a professional resume writing service although they helped him with that at school. His resume is pretty solid.
He has a mechanical engineering degree. He would prefer not to do design work exclusively, his passion is more hands on type stuff.
He has definitely been in touch with recruiting firms that don't charge as well.
He had an internship at a mining company doing design work, which is where he found out he hates sitting at a desk. At this point though, he'll do anything just to get his foot in the door and start gaining experience. ETA: His other work experience is mainly construction/manual labor type stuff.
Right now, there are just no jobs and the ones that are hiring have the luxury of being particular and wanting to hire engineers with their P.E.
Agreed.
I'll keep the professional resume writing service in mind.
