Anyone want to help me out a little with planning since most everyone here got married in this general area?
Do you have a caterer, (budget) photographer, or florist you'd recommend?
Re: Wedding Stuffs
Photography - Anna Lee Photography (You can see some of my wedding pics there. She's really young, but was so easy to work with, and much less expensive than others I quoted.)
Florist - A Date With Iris - If you're looking for non-traditional or different, these are your girls. They were great listeners, and didn't try to give me the same tight rose bouquet or gladiola sprays that 90% of the other florists I talked to did. They were reasonably priced, too, and traveled 2 hours to deliver!
We did the food for my wedding ourselves, so I'm not much help on catering. PM me for more info on either of the above!
GL!
This is totally not helpful, but I was looking at the webpage of a friend of mine who is a photographer, and I am amazed by how much more expensive wedding photography has gotten in the last five years. What we paid for one of the most in-demand wedding photographers in the area is what my friend, who has a relatively young business, is now charging. I'm not sure I would know what constituted a "budget" photographer.
My cousin does some photography on the side and has done several weddings, including one of our other cousins who got married after I did. I think she did a great job. I probably would have used her if she had been doing it at the time of our wedding.
No kidding on the price of wedding photographers skyrocketing! Packages starting at 2k? No thank you. I don't want to pay half of that (particularly after what I got out of a photographer with ***'s before!).
I might like that cousin rec. if you don't mind. You have my email if you don't want to post it. I LOVE the wedding pic you had on facebook recently, so I trust your taste for sure.
Ok, it still makes me irrationally angry that he has been able to get the knot/nest to censor his name so that people can't tell the truth. Lamp-here without the hyphen.
I didn't know you had used him for your photographer. That is ridiculous about them censoring his name. I actually considered using him, but fortunately ended up going with Tara Lokey instead. She is amazing, but I would be kind of afraid to see what her prices are these days.
I will email you my cousin's name and number. She doesn't have a site or anything, but she could probably email you some photos she has taken.
Her packages start at $2300, so yeah, that's a little out of my price range.
And are you sure you want to open this door?
I've been trying on dresses lately.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
Yay! I was hoping you would share wedding stuff on here. You MUST tell us what is going on - have you all picked a date? Show us the dresses you have tried on. Five years later, I am STILL a beebeeeee!!
We used French Tulip for our flowers and I loved them.
You could also go to Sam's, order a ton of flowers and do it yourself. That was my original plan until my employer at the time transferred me to Dallas five months before my wedding date, then refused to allow me enough time off to get everything done myself.
We used Foster's Wedding Photography....have you considered asked Tavia to take your wedding photos? She has taken pics of DH and I and of our SD and...she is amazing. I wish I had even half of her talent.
Ok, thanks.
I would like to see more of Tavia's stuff, that's a good idea. Does anyone know if she has a website/blog of some sort? I'd really like to not make photography a big investment for this.
We're looking at October 2012, with a wedding at the State Capitol and the reception at the Oklahoma History Center. I wish you could book the capitol further out, because I don't want to book a reception location until I have the ceremony location finalized, but they don't allow you to book more than a year in advance.
I have tried on several dresses, but here are a couple of my favorites.
This one comes in a version that has straps as well, but I haven't been able to try that on. I'm not sure which way I would go.
This one was my very favorite from pictures before I started trying things on and I really like it on me, but I also love the first one. The sample here does not fit me because I'm a fatty, so it doesn't zip. Obviously the final version would fit much better.
October 2012? Good Lord, lady, that's a long ways away!!!
I love the second one. The lace is just beautiful. And I LOVE the back as well. The lace is timeless. You look beautiful in the first one as well.
I am not sure if Tavia has done any weddings before - but I will PM you a link to some of her pictures...
And you are not a fatty.
I know, but weddings and honeymoons are expensive my friend. With also trying to save for the house/move stuff, I need some time to be able to pay cash monies for this stuff.
Being an adult sucks but you are definitely doing the right thing.
As far as honeymoons - you might look on costco's website. You have to be a member to book trips - the membership is only $50 a year - but you will save a TON on travel. You get the best deals when you call to talk to an agent - but you have to have a membership to do so. Just FYI.
I never would have thought of that, thanks. We're tentatively talking a roughly 10 day multi-country visit to Europe. Do you know if they do international packages as well?
I used Art by Kriea too... She charges a ton more these days! Loved her stuff but I couldn't afford her anymore. I use Tavia every three months for pics of Brynn... You should ask her.
I had my reception at Rocky's so I can't really help with food either.
For flowers I used Trochta's and I was AMAZED at how much cheaper they were than anywhere else, I met with Paige. I had probably 15 centerpieces, too many bouts and bouquets and again too many alter flowers but it was well under 2K in the end. I loved them and they let me buy all of my vases and bring them to them a few days before the wedding. They put everything together and did delivery, and set up without any additional charges. I had my own ideas and she worked with me to make it real and fabulous.
They do international packages. They do not just "do" flights, though - so you would have to book your hotel and flights through them....however, if you are going to do Europe, I can probably save you more money than Costco (as well as any of the other girls that have traveled Europe extensively). Getting there is most expensive but as far as getting around...dirt cheap, if you know how to do it. You may be scared for your life but hey - that's what makes it fun...(just kidding, kind of!)
Both of those dresses are gorgeous (and stripes is right, you are *so* not a fatty)!
It also just occurred to me to mention that if you are looking for a non-traditional officiant, let me know. I know a few guys who are registered here to perform weddings.
I thought I had already emailed you about that very topic. If not, I meant to. I am definitely interested.
I was mostly joking about the fatty comment, but that dress was definitely too small.
I'm up for that. I was planning to use hotel points for some of the hotel stays (I have a ton). 2 Days at the Waldorf Astoria in Rome, free? Yes, please.
We used the following:
Photography---Linsey Stafford Photography. She was awesome to work with and her prices are very reasonable
Here is a link to our pictures http://linseystaffordphotography.zenfolio.com/p535922637
Florist--Poppy Lane Design. Kelly is great as well!
I got my dress at David's Bridal

I took the sleeves off. I got the veil that matches. I'm trying to sell both.
I don't know if you're looking for a place to get married and in what part of OK you're in, but we got married at The Gardens in OKC and I loved it!
