Oh facebook evangalizing through Harry Potter
I'm not anti-God or church or anything in the least (I'm actually Catholic) but this facebook post made me
plus, way to be a downer on harry potter day!
Happy Harry Potter Day, to all those who will be standing in line and even dressing up for this occasion, please remember the one who actually conquered evil, Jesus Christ, also if you can do all this for a movie, you can show up to Mass on time and in appropriate attire.
alright then.

Re: Oh facebook evangalizing through Harry Potter
I went to a Christian college and every freshman has to take an intro-type of course in their first semester. Every class has a different topic but the goal is to give them a place to get to know other students, a faculty member, blah blah blah.
Anyway, my course was a Harry Potter vs. Christianity course. The professor that taught the class was Pro-HP, but there were several professors on campus that thought the books and course should be removed and banned from the campus because of the witchcraft in the books.
I ended up being a TA for the course for the next two years. One student was pulled from the class during parent and student day (before classes even started) because his parents refused to let him be exposed to HP. There were several debates throughout the course about how it was anti-religion, work of the Devil, and so on.
Good times.
That being said, I know several devout Christians that are the biggest HP nerds I've ever met.
This.
I couldn't agree more.
Me either. He is a youth group leader, so prone to preaching, however he's never been particularly preachy on FB, which is why he is still on my friend list. He's on thin ice.

Are you friends with my step sister. She's conviced I can't be a good Christian and let my children read and watch Harry Potter. I seal my fate of going to Hell when I decided to be a fan of the Twilight series. Andplusalso, allowing my children to trick or treat means I am damning them to Hell.
She thinks I'm evil because I've seen ghosts, but she's allowed to have dreams that predict the deaths of family members and the sex of unborn babies and that is considered devine.
We aren't close.
