Pantyhose in the workplace...
I work for a big bank and I regularly wear dresses and skirts to work. Now I ALWAYS wear pantyhose underneath because I for one think my legs are way too pasty to not wear them. However, I was talking with other work associates that think it's appropriate to not wear them in corporate America. I was just wondering what everyones consensus is on wearing them.
Pantyhose- appropriate or inappropriate?
Re: Pantyhose in the workplace...
I think it's personal preference.
At DH's last job, it was required as a safety issue. Everyone had to wear closed toed shoes and they had to have their legs covered. He just moved to a new site where everything goes.
At any place I've worked, I've never seen anyone get the side eye either way unless they showed up in fishnets and FMPs.
The trend these days is to go without pantyhose. But if you're more comfortable wearing them, it's NBD.

I've never worn pantyhose in the workplace and spend a lot of time at women's networking events, where I rarely if ever see pantyhose. I think they're becoming obsolete to some extent.
That being said, I do think it's important to ensure your legs are in good shape if you're not going to wear hose. I use Jergens Natural Glow to make sure I have a little bit of color on my legs and make sure they're well moisturized. There's nothing worse than seeing a woman in a beautiful outfit, bare legs but her legs look jacked up.
Almost all places I've worked prohibits bare legs...either pantyhose, tights, or whatever else must be worn.
I, too, have legs much too pasty to go bare (and I refuse to spray tan them or anything else of that nature).
When it's been a heat index of 105 and brutal humidity, I've skipped pantyhose even in the US Capitol buildings (as formal a place as I can think of). Otherwise, I've gotten wicked heat rash.
I am also in the school of thought that says use self tanner, keep your legs shaved, etc. I've read the advice that if you have imperfections (spider veins, mosquito bites) you should wear pants. I don't agree with that any more than I think men who have acne scars should have to grow beards.
