Re: ***flower_lover***
Thanks for checking in!
We went to adoption events the last 2 Saturdays, it's been so much fun. The first Saturday we took one dog out after looking at several, she was a yellow lab cross and a nice size for us. We took her out on the leash and she was definitely a "nose to the ground sniffing" the whole time dog. She may not be a good fit for us, she did not seem to pay attention to us a lot, and perhaps seemed liked she'd be harder to train. I'm guessing she'd be a great hunting dog.
Yesterday we went to another event and took out another lab cross for a walk, and hung out with him for awhile. We are definitely considering him. He seemed to pay more attention to us, and knew a few basic commands. We talked for awhile to his foster mom, so we learned a lot about him and are keeping him in mind. He does have a bit of mange, he's been treated for it once and they think he needs to be treated again.
We are likely going to look at a couple of more dogs that we've seen on Petfinder before we make up our mind for sure. We're on vacation in early August, so we're looking now and hope to bring the dog into our home the first weekend we're back. It's hard having to wait...but on the other hand it's probably preventing us from making any quick decisions on which dog to adopt.
How are your boys doing in this heat?!
Thanks again for asking!
Adopting a dog is a big decision to it is smart to get to know a few dogs before settling on yours! We didn't full think through our decision to adopt Renzo and while it has worked out beautifully it was a rocky start. It was definitely a learning experience for us!! :-) Your perfect pup will come in to your lives at JUST the right time!
My boys, who normally LOVE being outside, run back to the door after going potty. It's too hot even for them! :-(
