I'm thinking about switching from The Pill to Mirena. Anyone have any positive or negative feedback to provide.
(I have a family history of high blood pressure - and my pressure has been a little on the high side recently, which is why my doc suggested the change.)
Re: Mirena
I have had mine for about 3.5 years and LOOOOVE it...
I do not get a period at all, and never have to worry about forgetting the pill
insertion was just a small cramp/pinch and it was immediately effective
I really have zero bad things to say about it, my experience is all positive
I have had my in for 6 months. I still get a period but very light. I like not having to worry about taking the pill. I haven't had any side effects. but had a bad experience when it was inserted. If you haven't had kids you may want to ask for a pill to soften things up so it doesn't hurt so bad. I ended up passing out because of the pain. I had cramping for 3 days then things started to get back to normal. I have never had children so that can happen. But so far so good. It was worth the pain. and I am sure the pain isn't anything like having a child so just give it a try and if it doesn't work for you. You can always have it taken out.
I just got mine taken out after 3 years. we wanted to try for baby #2. I loved it, I still got my period but very light, hardly enough for a tampon, pretty much just spotting. The insertion was a breeze, mild cramping/pinching feeling, nothing major. But getting it removed took two 30 minute scavenger hunt appts before they found it to remove it, with threats of it being surgically removed it was a bit on the scary side. We are now TTC and ive had 2 periods in 4 weeks, I guess my body just getting over the hormones or something. Hoping for a positive PT in another week!
But with that being said, I still might get it again
