I need some serious help.... PLEASE

I am 27 years old and have gotten to a point in my life where I feel I haven't accomplished anything.  That being said I have decided that I need to do something about that.  I want to go back to school and finish but first I need and want to clear my debts which I have figured I can do in about 18 months if I can get a job.  I have applied to hundreds of jobs and I belong to so many job sites and recruiting agencies I almost can't keep up and yet I still have no job. No one is looking at my resume and recruiters seem to not want to place me even though I have aced every test they can throw at me (and they are the ones who say I've aced them). I know I can do the jobs I get interviews for (a grand total of 3) but they never call back. I need advice and can someone please look over my resume for me.

Re: I need some serious help.... PLEASE

  • What kind of experience do you have on your resume? Are you looking for jobs in a specific category? Is your resume personalized for each job that you apply for?

There is a lot of competition out there, and when you apply for jobs online it's really hard to stand out sometimes in a sea of hundreds. You did get 3 interviews - that's great!! How did the interviews go?

  • Sure, PM me and I'll look at it. Let me know in your PM what jobs you're looking for.

  • Try not to get down on yourself.  The job market is horrible right now and the odds are against you.  My school was hiring for a history teacher and received over 600 applications for the position!

Are you currently working now?  What do you do?

  • I always found that a personal network is the best way to get your foot in the door.  Let everyone know that you are looking for employment - your parents' friends, other adults you happen to talk with.  I couldn't believe the contact I made just by being very forthright with my friends - I got two job interviews this way over a sea of candidates - and I had zero previous experience, only a personal reference and transferable skills.

  • I have clerical and call center work on my resume and I'm trying to stay in the clerical field and not go back into the call center area. I did get the three interviews bit I did not get the position for two out of three... the third I'm still waiting on so I'm praying I hear something this week. I'm not sure how they went. I tend to get a bit nervous and ramble though I tend to catch myself before it gets out of hand.
  • I am currently working from home as a virtual assistant but do to some issues beyond anyone's control my work load has dwindled down to one day a week.
