I didn't want this to get lost below, just in case...
We ended up getting our furniture from Baby Furniture Warehouse in Reading. We looked at a lot of places and felt like they had the best selection. They have all price ranges and different levels of "quality" etc. Even if you don't buy there, I highly recommend "shopping" there to see what you like, etc. They have a clearance warehouse at the back too where you can get great deals. We wound up getting floor models (but they are impeccable) for the dressers and crib and got a good deal (I found our crib for the same price from only one other place online, and after paying shipping and putting it together ourselves it was about the same). They do charge for delivery and setup, but if you guys are ambitious and want to do that yourself you can. I ended up getting a dutalier glider, so that was why it took so long for everything to come in - that was a special order. So they held our other stuff til the entire order was ready. I found their customer service to be great and the selection is fantastic. Also, unlike at BRU the cribs are not bolted to the ground so you can see how sturdy stuff is.
Anyway, check it out. Also if you have not already pick up a copy of Baby Bargains - they rate lots of furniture and give you a good idea of what to look for in a crib.
Let me know if you have any questions and if you guys end up stopping by there and want to meet up for dinner or ice cream :-)
Re: *kara* baby furniture
Thanks!
I have Baby Bargains and it's been a huge help! I've heard good things about BFW - I'll have to see if Tim and I can find some time to go!
As an aside, some people do think that BFW in Reading is overpriced, I felt like some of their things were overpriced, others reasonable when compared to other stores. What we got is all solid wood, no veneers, etc. Really good craftsmanship (munire crib, pali dressers, and dutalier glider). We paid under $1,500 for two dressers, the crib, the glider, and delivery...we still have to get a mattress. But I felt like it was decent because we looked at other solid wood dressers and found them pretty pricey.
ETA: our funiture is all birch, so hardwood, not pine. It does make a difference in price and durability.
Also, I wouldn't bother with Jordan's, their selection is kind of crappy and their prices are higher than BFW.
