S/O anniv gifts.

So 3rd year traditional gift is leather... I found this on redenvelope, and I'm thinking I'll get it for dh... I may find someone to press a message onto it too.

What are you planning to get DH for it? And how do you plan to celebrate this year?

My overly happy baby girl!

Re: S/O anniv gifts.

  • We're going to the East Carolina v. Navy game the weekend before our anniversary.  I still want to do a wknd in the OBX in October too since we've never been down there just us for a wknd.

I think we'll probably end up doing a combo gift of a new grill and cover.

  • That's too cute, Mar! Thomas would love it.

We haven't made any plans in stone yet, but we're talking about either a weekend in Charleston, SC/Isle of Palms area or going to the OBX. Another option is driving up to the Biltmore Estate since it's only 2 hours from us. The fall foliage will be at it's peak in the NC mountains during that time of year, so it would be really pretty.

  • Mar, that is so cute!!

I am giving Ben a baby, done! I have to admit that while I am happy to have our munchkin, part of me is sad that the last two years we spent out anniversary in NYC and Paris and this year we will be tied down here. I am hoping next year we might be able to get back in the swing of things and venture to Italy and Germany.

    I heart Ben!!

  • We might go out to dinner.  Our first anniversary he was deployed and last year we had stuff going on so we didn't do much.  We haven't talked about it.  I'm sure DH won't want to even think of it till after LO arrives.

  • I think we're going to take the train to NYC since it's a long weekend (best thing about our anniversary date!) We've been wanting to go together (both been separately) and the weather will be nice. I'm terrible at coming up with gift ideas for him so I like doing trips for our anniversary.

Linds, I think the Biltmore would be beautiful in October!!

  • I have no idea what we will do. I know we have a wedding on the 7th. Last year we went out for cheesesteak sandwiches...it's ok you can say it...romantic :)

  • Our first year we went to the Melting Pot for dinner and last year we went out in December for dinner (Andrew's dad being in the hospital consume our weekends). This year, maybe we will go out to dinner, but if we have the house we may just stay in to save money.

  • Lets see for our first anniversary we were outside NYC for a friends wedding the day before, so we went into the city to go to the MET and just walk around central park and stayed in a hotel room with BIL(so romantic).  We had take out chinese from the place down the street from the hotel and had leftover cake from the wedding the day before. I was of course sick with a cold as I was just after our wedding. We did get a cake from our baker a week later.

Last year we had planned to go out for dinner and do a night at the hotel we stayed at on our wedding night.  But none of it ever happened.  We were really tight on money last year, so we didn't do anything.

I hope this year to do a weekend away somewhere.  Or at least the night in the hotel.

I have no idea if we will actually exchange gifts.  Have to discuss that.  I think a new purse might be nice for me:) Maybe a new wallet for DH??

  • I am definitely going to do the monthly date planning thing I posted about. Here are some of my ideas (feel free to help me out with some more, but I don't want to hijack the post, so I'm posting them in the other post too!):

Puzzle night &/or board game night at home

Play hooky from work and go snowshoeing or XC skiing (when JT is at daycare)

Go to NYC for the day and go to the Met, preferably on a workday when JT is in daycare (T just gave me this one when I read this post!)

"Just Desert" night -- babysitter after JT is asleep and go out just for desert

    Mini-golfing in the summer

  • We might do a weekend away for a combined graduation/anniversary gift to ourselves! We're not really gift people, I wish we were though!!

I love some of these ideas!!! I think I might steal some of them.  I like that they are inexpensive and something different than the norm.  I May steal some of these from you!

  • I have no clue, and since dh has totally slipped about mine I am feeling some pressure but really who knows what I will come up with since the baby will be around 2 months old at the time.
  • I always feel double the pressure when it comes to our anniversary because Rob's birthday is the day before. This year I'm hoping he'll let me slide on doing anything too elaborate.

Ooo I love the Just Dessert idea! I may have to steal that one... to use sooner than our anniversary!
