We both grew up in Dallas (me- Richardson, DH- University Park) and after 2 years in LA we are 95% positive we will be moving back at the end of August.I'm pretty excited to go back to Texas ![]()
We are looking at living in Plano since its close to my family, not that far from his (if we live w/i easy access of the tollway), and very close to our best friends (another couple). We also like how suburban it is, but with convenient access to shops & restaurants. After living in a big city, neither of us wants to live in Uptown or a similar area.
Any suggestions? Neighborhood recommendations? Have a great day ladies!
Re: Moving back to DFW
And if you go back and look at your thread, it counts as a view.
I'm a Grapevine (middle of Dallas/Fort Worth) nestie, so Plano... I'm no help. I work in the Shops at Legacy and this area is pretty nice. It has some upscale condos around here.

Gotta love the southern hospitality, thanks ladies! We are not set on moving to Plano, it just seems like an area that has what we want (suburban, easy access to friends & family). DH has job leads downtown so maybe we'll end up in Addison...who knows! Just not Denton (I went to UNT), 4 years was enough there!
I'm sure (if the move happens) I'll be looking for recommendations on vets/hair stylists/etc....
What is your favorite part about where YOU live?
I don't know specific neighborhoods/areas around Plano but I know that West Plano is very nice.
I live in North Carrollton and we love it. We are very central and only 10-15 minutes from pretty much everything we want to do.
I haven't spent much time in Carrollton, is it a good place for no-kids young couples?
Well, we are a no-kids young couple.
The area by itself, not really...but we are 10 minutes away from West Plano or Lewisville, about 15 from Frisco or Grapevine. 15 minutes from Addison, etc.
It's very easy access to pretty much anything you might want to do in the area.
Thanks for the advice. We will stay with my mom for a little while so we have time to find a good apartment. All of the places I've looked at online are so cheap compared to Los Angeles...I didn't expect there to be this big of a difference in housing costs.
There is a huge difference in housing cost between LA and Dallas.

Yes, definitely.
Sorry, I didn't realize you were apartment shopping. Carrollton is probably not the coolest place for that.
DH and I rent a townhome in North Plano. We live in a nice area that is close to 121 and DNT. We don't have kids, but there are kids in our neighborhood. There are also numerous apartment complexes in North and West Plano that are very nice. I'm not that familiar with East Plano.
Then I'd recommend the Shops at Legacy

I live in an apartment in Carrollton and it's pretty nice. We'll be moving out at the end of the year, but for the most part I enjoyed living here for 5 years.
We hang out with friends in the Frisco/McKinney area and their neighborhoods seem to have a nice amount of younger couples.

Thanks! I like that its near a creek (presumably with trails to run).
Do you have a yard with your townhouse? It would be great to rent a condo/townhouse with a yard since we have a dog that would enjoy that.
We were looking at that area, as we would like to buy and TTC in a couple of years. What yoga studio do you go to?
That is who I did my yoga teacher training through! Great studios! Have you taken Annette or Jillian's classes?
I love Sunstone! I go to the studios in Flower Mound and Southlake.
