Who saw HP this weekend? (spoilers possible)

We saw it last night in IMAX 3D. I'm not a huge fan of 3D and was kind of mad when I heard this movie was going to be 3D. I was very pleasantly surprised, it was worth the extra couple dollars for the IMAX.

I thought this was the best movie of the series. I laughed and cried several times. I thought the epilogue was done well even though they made Ron fat as an adult.

What did everyone else think?

Re: Who saw HP this weekend? (spoilers possible)

  • First off, I hate IMAX & 3D movies. We saw DH1 in IMAX & I hated it. Hate hate hate.

I'm glad that its been almost 2 years since I read the books so that I wasn't stuck focusing on the details & I could enjoy the movie.

This movie made me pretty emotional. I cried when McGonagill went all Mamabear on Snape when he tried to attack Harry. I love her. I also cried when Harry was looking at Snape's memories in the pensieve. I loved Snape's storyline.

There were definitely some funny parts... Like when Harry came back to Hogwarts & Seamus had a few good one-liners.

I mentioned on the Entertainment board that I hate that none of the actresses that portrated Lilly had really striking blue eyes like Daniel Radcliffe. They make a big fuss the entire series about how Harry has his mother's eyes & they can't even bother to find actresses with striking blue eyes? At least CGI that ***!

Also, they completely left out all the Dumbledore background stuff. They glazed over Ariana when they were at Aberforth's but that was about it.

The hug-flying thing between Harry & Voldemort was weird. Not a fan.

  • I cried during the Prof. McGonagil part too. I think my IMAX opinion is different b/c our IMAX theater was just converted from a regular theater so the screen is large but not as large as one that was built as an IMAX. I also think it depends on where you sit. We saw Thor in IMAX and we were too close, I got a headache from that one.
