I need to talk about HP-DH2 *spoilers*
Re: I need to talk about HP-DH2 *spoilers*
Disclaimer - I have never read the books, so my perspective is solely from the movies
I really liked it. I thought it was well done
Yea, I liked it too. It was good, but I am hesitant to say great. Maybe after I think about it some more and it sinks in.
I reread the last half of the book yesterday, so the difference between book and movie were very apparent for me. The differences were mostly minor, but I really was disappointed about what he does with the Elder Wand at the end of the movie. In the book, he uses it to repair his broken wand (Hermione broke it in Part 1), and says he is going to put it back in Dumbledore's tomb.

yeah, even having not read the book I was disappointed with what he did with the wand.
I'm a huge fan. It may be because I was crying through pretty much the whole movie though....
I'll definitely be going to see it again this week. I'm such a dork, I know.

There were two scenes that I was disappointed in and this was one of them. I really wanted the trio to go up to the headmaster's office to see Dumbledore's painting and to get that applause and approval from all the headmasters. Also, the repairing of his old wand.
The other scene was the final battle between Voldy and Harry. In the book, everyone is around and sees it. I think that was important. I felt like taking that away kind of diminished the magnitude of it all in the movie.
Carrying over from the first part, I hate that they don't use the invisibility cloak as much in the movie ans in the book. That kind of takes away from the whole idea of the Hallows. But, this is all comparing the book and movie and the books always win.
I was kind of afraid what they were doing with Neville and Nagini. Thinking about it, those changes were good because it provided extra momentum. I also really liked that we got to see Ron and Hermione in the Chamber of Secrets. The fire in the room of requirement was awesome, too. The scene with Molly and Bellatrix was done really well, too.
My absolute favorite was how they showed the Prince's Tale chapter. This was where I had to really keep myself from crying. So good. I actually understood what the book was saying more from seeing it.
All in all, I loved it and I think I would have loved it even more if I hadn't reread the book last week. I think I might try to see it again after a few weeks. I can't wait for the whole series to come out as a set on blu-ray. It will definitely be on my Christmas list this year.

I want to see it again, too
I think with something like this I have to see it twice to really appreciate it. The first time around I"m just comparing it to what I already knew from the book. The second time I can truly enjoy it.

I really noticed in this movie how short Daniel Radcliffe is. He is in shape, though! I love Rupert Grint. I just think he is a cutie and seems like he has a great personality. Oh, and, of course I have a girl crush on Emma Watson.

Was it only played in 3D? I was surprised that our little local theater had it in 3D, they usually don't.
I was pretty much enthralled with the whole thing and I tried to stop myself from comparing it to the book and just watching it for what it was.
Pat and I watched part 1 on Saturday night at home before seeing part 2 on Sunday. I think that helped set the mood for us, so to speak.
My heart swelled when we first saw Professor McGonagall. I've always loved her and thought it was so cute when she released the guards and said she'd always wanted to do that spell.
I was sad they didn't say at the end that Neville was at Hogwarts.

My theater had both 2D and 3D. I saw it in 2D. I haven't jumped on the 3D bandwagon yet. I'm afraid I'll get motion sick!
I love McGonagall, too. I loved all the little funny things they put in the movie. Just random things that made me smile.

We watched Part 1 on Saturday night too! I wanted to make sure it was all fresh in my head.
I loved the whole beginning part of them at Hogwarts - when Harry stepped out to talk to Snape and when McGonagall helped get rid of Snape and then released the guards. I've always liked her.
Jo - I usually do the 2D first and then maybe the 3D, but that wasn't available this time. I get super motion sick also, but I wasn't bothered at all by this movie. It took maybe two minutes for my eyes to adjust (with my glasses on under the 3D glasses) and then I was good to go.
However, I was annoyed by the INFANT crying in the next section. Seriously unacceptable.
My cousins have an infant and they went to the drive in last night to see it because they couldn't wait. I'm perfectly ok with taking a baby to the drive in. You're in your own car not disturbing anyone else, but not ok in the theater.

An infant in the theater is not cool! So not acceptable.
I'm torn on the scene of Harry stepping out to Snape in the Great Hall. It is so far off from the book, but it did kind of work. The part that bothered me was the the kids that were in the Room of Requirement when the trio came back were supposed to have "disappeared" from Hogwarts to get away from the Death Eaters there, so I didn't understand why they would have been included in the ones that were told to gather in the Great Hall. That didn't work in my head.

Yeah, it worked and in the end wasn't something that bothered me, but while it was happening I was thinking WTF?.

I thought it worked and liked it. They had to do it differently because there wasn't all the SPEW stuff in the movies. I liked Harry "finding out" when he saw them holding hands. It was cute.
I also though that the way they changed Harry going to the Forbidden Forrest worked with him running in to Ron and Hermione. It was nice that they got to say goodbye. I had tears when Hermione offered to go with him.
