Today is my and my husbands birthday. We decided fairly late (about 5 days out) that we wanted to celebrate a little, this past Saturday. We invited a little over 50 people... nobody showed up. Not one person. I am not upset at anyone in specific, we did this too late.. but it's still kind of disappointing when nobody at all comes. We had a bunch of maybe's so we spent the night keeping an eye on the door in case someone comes. The place was crowded and we didn't want to miss anyone.
Luke has been having issues with ulcers in his mouth all year this year and had a flare up again this weekend, starting for the babysitter on Saturday. So he was up several times Saturday night and again up for the day yesterday morning at 4.30am. Not only am I worried sick about him but I am also so so tired - emotionally and phsyicaly as this has been an ongoing issue.
Instead of better it has gotten worse. He has a temp again, I was up and down with him all night and today he is going back to the pediatrician for blood testing.
My husband had to travel for work for the day so he has been gone since 4am and won't be back till late. On his birthday and mine.
So here I sit on our birthday, tired, worried sick, disappointed and alone.
Thanks for listening. I just had to whine and my kids wouldn't appreciate this conversation with me.. haha
Re: Can I whine for a second?
I'm sorry Jenni! I understand how you feel about the birthday thing. For my 28th or 29th (dont remember which one now) I invited a bunch of people to go out with us in Baltimore. we got a hotel and everything just so we wouldn't have to worry about driving and we could have a good time drinking and dancing. We had a bunch of people tell us maybe or yes, and of course no one shows up except my one trooper of a coworker. I rarely bother even trying to organize anything anymore because people are so flaky and undependable.
Happy b-day to you and your DH, and I hope Luke is feeling better soon!
Aw I'm sorry no one showed - that stinks :-( I hope your day gets better!
Happy Birthday!
I totally feel you, I find that if I invite friends out...noone will come. But if I invite them over to eat my food and drink my beer, then they will. Also, my husband plays in a band...a band needs followers, especially as they try to get into new rooms and what not. He has good friends that literally haven't seen him play in YEARS. They play every weekend so you think that people would make the effort every once in a while...but nope. But again, if we throw a party they're all about it.
So don't take it personally, I don't even think we have bad friends and they always manage to leave us disappointed in the going out department...
Happy Birthday--f' them all and enjoy who you have around you!!!
... every single day of forever.
