Hi everyone! This is my first chance to sit in front of my computer - between visitors and learning the ropes of caring for a newborn, things have been really hectic. Anyway thanks all of you for the kind wishes and thanks raynes for updating everyone!
I was in early labour from about noon till 10pm on Wednesday, and then active labour from that point on. We went to the hospital at 12:30am, were stuck in L&D triage for so long that I got to 9cm dilated before getting the epidural at 3:00am (super frustrating but I do think that going without meds made it more efficient), but had to wait for the baby to descend. I started pushing a little after 8:30 and Darian was born at 9:15 on Thursday morning. The care I got was amazing and the nurse at my delivery was actually a trained midwife in Hong Kong, just didn't have MW certification here. I'm in pretty good shape, Darian checked out perfectly healthy and we were discharged on Friday afternoon.
I'm unfortunately having some issues with milk supply right now and Darian is a little dehydrated which worries me, but we're going in to the doctor's for a checkup tomorrow and also to see a lactation consultant at the hospital. So hopefully he'll be better soon.
My mom is staying with us for a couple of weeks to help out, and although I wasn't sure how I felt about it before, she has been an absolute godsend. I won't lie - the last couple of days and nights have been kind of rough, and I'm finding myself needing reminders to do basic things like eat and brush my teeth. I don't know what I'd without my mom here. Sherlock is doing OK - I'm trying to snuggle him as much as I can. This morning when he saw me sitting with a crying baby, he came by to sit with us and tried to help by nuzzling Darian's butt with his head, lol.
Anyway here are a couple more pics, though some of you might have seen these on FB. I'll try to find more time to drop by soon!

ETA: Here's a pic that's not on FB - just for you all
This was done by the hospital photographer. (Hope it works)

Re: Hi all! Baby Darian update
He is such a little cutie! I can't believe you were 9cm before you received an epidural!
I love that Sherlock tried nuzzling Darian's butt, too cute!
I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and things start settling down for you as you get into a routine.
ETA: Thanks for sharing pictures, I can't wait to see more!

Sherlock seems to be catching on, so cute that he tried to help.
Hope all your appointments go well and you are able to get the information and help you need.
Congrats on Darian, Ringy! Time will fly by and before you know it, you'll be staring at your baby 6 months later wondering why they're growing up so quickly.
I know it's been done to death, but ENJOY EVERY MOMENT with your son. There will be stressful times when all you want to do is sleep or cry, but no matter what, those times will pass by quickly. Before you know it, you'll have a silly little boy cracking his first smile or giggling away while you change diapers.
My little man giggles up a storm when I change him and it never feels like a chore. I've been peed on many times (he peed the moment I put him in his tub last night) and I just laugh. All part of being a mom and as long as he is a happy baby, then I am happy, too
Enjoy the new man in your life!

I'm so glad you're both doing well. I know what you mean about having mom around to help. It can make a world of difference and hopefully means you're getting some sleep. The first few weeks are SO rough, but hang in there. It gets better every day.
As far as your supply, hang in there. We had the same issue but it all got worked out in the end.
Darian is adorable! I love his name too.
