Re: Monday Randoms

  • Haha...aw, Mira!  Is your H back to work today?
  • I hope no one took that as snarky. It wasn't meant that way.  Big Smile

  • My eyeballs hate me today and it makes me sad.  I wore contacts yesterday because we went to the beach and I do not like wearing glasses at the beach and I'm too blind to wear nothing at all.  I routinely put drops in, but still my eyes got too dry.

Today they're really sore and look like crap.  Sad

I wish I could wear contacts every once in awhile like a normal person, without paying for it with ugly and painful eyes for a week afterward.

He goes back on Tuesday.  Not only is back at work Tuesday, but he has to travel.  He'll be about 4 hrs from home Tuesday and Wed.   Figures I'll go into labor on one of those days.

    It made me laugh.  :)

  • I had an awesome weekend. Friday we toured six.one.six, Lubbers, Grassfields, and ended up at Visser Farms with the Silver Spork.

Saturday and Sunday I was at a blogging conference in Chicago. Had a great after party at the John Hancock Observatory.

It was super hot though. Can't wait to get to Africa on Wednesday and escape the heat and humidity :-)

  • Mira - that was funny :)

How is everyone dealing with this heat?

WOP - did you ever get your ac fixed?

    Ugh!

My H had to travel almost immediately after T was born, for almost a whole week.  That was a huge bummer.  But luckily he was in town for the birth.

I really hope that baby Miro holds off until Wednesday evening!  Geez, crazy.

Ha!  That's funny.  Is it really going to be cooler there?  Are you going to be in higher elevations?

  • My grandpa's 90th birthday celebration down in Florida has been cancelled.  He is moving up to Michigan in a few weeks because he can no longer take care of himself.

Also, I'm 99% sure I killed a turtle on my way to work this morning.

Was not taken snarky...I thought it was very funny!  You do have a reason to be snarky though.  Hmmm....41 weeks pregnant in horribly hot weather.  I always hated the question...."How are you feeling?"  I always wanted to say "Like sh!t"...but opted for "pretty good".  I hope you either go into labor today or wait for DH. Smile

  • We are staying in A/C in this heat...but going camping starting Sunday to Higgins Lake.  I REALLY hope it cools off by then.  I think we are insane for going camping with a 9 1/2 month old...in 95 degree heat would make it worse!  Has anyone camped there before?

Are you tent camping?  I am trying to talk H into going camping, but he has a huge concern with what to do with T at night.  Well duh H, at bedtime we can just throw him in the tent and zip up the zipper.  Wink

Yep! We'll be in the mountains. 70s during the day, 50s at night and NO HUMIDITY! YAY!

    LOL...well, YEAH!

We actually have a Truck Camper.  It is kind of like a pop-up camper that fits in the bed of my H's full size truck.  Oddly enough, I think tent camping would be easier with Noah at this age.  Put the Pack N Play in a tent.  Throw him in at bedtime and sit by the campfire with a beverage of the adult kind!  I figure if our camping excursion is a total nightmare the first night, we can always come home.

Mike and I tent camped with Henry this weekend in South Haven. We brought the pack n play and it worked out just fine.  The only issue we ran into was that our tent was set up right next to a playground and kids were out there until 10.  Henry could hear them scream and laugh and then he would scream and laugh in response as if he was playing with them.  It was pretty funny, he just didn't fall asleep right away.

  • We are going camping this weekend too with the girls. This should be interesting based on how well it has been going with having both girls in Allison's room this weekend. Luckily we are keeping the girls at my parents house the first night, so Brian and I can enjoy one night by ourselves with some adult drinks and a cigar for him.  Hopefully the storms come through on Friday and cool things off.
  • Now I really really really want to go camping bad.

Just need to get a tent first...haha.

  • Have fun all you campers!  (And Africa traveler!!)  I'm jealous!

  • I'd love to go tent camping this summer.  Willa and I camped in the backyard a few times last year, and had a great time.  Now that we have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 adults (one of whom insists on an air mattress), we've kind of outgrown our "sleeps 6" tent.

GVSU, Willa and Henry have been having slumber parties for the past few days too.  Way too hot upstairs for Willa.

Mira, that website cracked me up.  If you're doctor is like most, and won't have you go past 42 weeks,  you're going to have a baby this week!

We have a room air conditioner in Allison's room, so we moved the mattress from Mia's bed into Allison's room. On Saturday night, Mia slept in Allison's bed and Allison slept on the floor. Ms. Amelia didn't fall asleep until 10. I actually went up there to yell at them to quit goofing off. I found Amelia standing over Allison. I realized about 60 second into my rant that Allison was conked out already.  I think Amelia was trying to get Allison to wake up and keep on goofing off.

Yesterday after repeated warnings, Amelia kept goofing off, so I put the matress back in her room and put her in there. The girls were yelling and crying and clinging onto the mattress for dear life, trying to get me to keep it in the room. I'm hoping they they now realize that mom says what she means and we can give it one more try tonight with both girls in Allison's room.

We don't plan to do a ton of camping. Maybe a couple of times a summer. We decided to buy this tent at Target when it was on sale. I think we paid $169. It has great reviews on Amazon. We also followed the suggestion of one reviewer and got different tent stakes.

I set this up on my own after a 24 mile trail bike ride in freakin' hot hot weather. It is so simple and had a ton of space for us. Air mattress, pack n play and all.

  • Do to the heat, I've declared it nation leftover day.
